Sky/Ineos Head Carer of 14 years discovered as member of Aderlass doping ring (Megathread)

Phew, not a good look for Froome or anyone on Sky. A really terrible lie outta him. As someone who played a whole lot of team sports over the years, anyone in the locker room/on the team bus knows a million times more than the journalists and reporters.

    Tadej Pogacar and Mauro Giannetti

Hadn't thought about him almost never cracking, I guess I tend to focus on how fast he goes on all parcours in all conditions. But now that you mention it, never, ever having an off day while racing around the calendar is also very unlikely to happen without some sort of assistance. Good point!

Exactly. You get up and push on, all charged up, but that is going to fade. We've all watched cycling long enough to know you don't get up from crash that hard, at that speed, and then just cruise to victory. It's simply not believable. Maybe you finish the stage in a GT because you're going...

    Tennis

There goes Nadal, retiring after the Davis Cup. Wonder how many folks will be a little bit suspicious about his career with 20+ years at/near the top and the bulging biceps and the lack of bulging biceps these days?

    Tennis

I'm completely out of the loop for pro tennis at this point, though I'm well aware of the doping going on that almost everyone wants to ignore. Did Sinner win the U.S. Open on Sunday? After two positives for a banned steroid? And all I hear about are the enormous crowds and dopey celebrities...

Andrea Piccolo's EF contract terminated, HGH/Sleeping pills

Wow, I feel like I'd be feelin' pretty darn good (for awhile) if I was regularly using cocaine and sleeping pills! Quite the mixture, though obviously not sustainable.

All my passion for the sport has gone :(

They're the only team to have those tapered head tubes, right? Great point! Tech advances...but only for 3 teams!

    Tadej Pogacar and Mauro Giannetti

I wish I had an assistant waiting to take my helmet off after my commute home from my office. All I get is one barking dog, one dog licking my sweaty legs. It's not ideal.

    Tadej Pogacar and Mauro Giannetti

I'm not talking about stage wins that suit their skills, I'm talking about van Aert contesting every stage in the TdF and pulling off #5 in the mountains and #21 GC in the 2022 Tour. Pretty sure Tom nor Peter got anywhere near Top 5 in mtns classification. Winning on cobbled Classics and...

    Tadej Pogacar and Mauro Giannetti

I'm confused here. Sagan would win cobbled Classics and the green jersey. He was fast, had power, and could win sprints and ride long distances over cobbles. He wasn't contesting hilly stages in the TdF. He was an an all-arounder of sorts, but nothing like Wout van Aert. Sagan 2016 - wins...

    Tadej Pogacar and Mauro Giannetti

Yeah, probably true. But van der Poel and Van Aert are still devouring Classics and plenty of stages in GTs. We haven't seen a rider do that in quite some time. But yes, Pogacar truly is the lone outlier. Guys used to lean on their speciality to win a GT or win a specific Classic. Now we have...

    Tadej Pogacar and Mauro Giannetti

I think the majority of pro peloton guys are probably using something to the best of their own/team's wallet capabilities. But having 3-4 guys race 10 months a year and win by wide margins and contest every stage of a GT really makes me lose interest in following at all. This type of winning...

    State of the Peloton 2024

Yeah...the headline story comparing Tadej to Pantani. Wow!

I hate that both VDP and Pogo look so good on a bike! Both of them always look just right. And, I typically don't like how tall guys look. Both are darn classy!

Thank you! You just summed up the entire PED issue in a few sentences. It's never the same, it's never equal. Obviously something unequal is going on when Pogacar, van der Poel, Wout, and Vingegaard win every single race. It's bad for the sport and clearly signals something is going on.
