    Tejay Van Garderen Discussion Thread

It is a great win for TJ but his "crash" wouldn't have been so big had he been more realistic about his abilities. Once he accepts the idea that he has much greater potential to pick up stage wins than seriously challenge gc the more stage wins he should have. If he continues to put himself...

Giro 2017, stage 9: Montenero di Bisaccia - Blockhaus 149 km

Tejay Van Garderen continues to race at a level commensurate with his ability. Can't see why BMC believe he is more capable than he regularly demonstrates.

Froome stays in yellow, the right decision?

Re: Re: Probably should let Yates decide that himself. As is made obvious in every tour cyclists will give anything for a day or two in yellow. Even though he is quoted as saying Froome is the rightful wearer he may have reluctantly worn it if the results over the line were allowed to stand.

    Rate Paris-Roubaix 2016

Re: Re: :( It's all part of the game at PR. The best riders usually spend quite a lot of energy making sure they are as close to the front as possible throughout the race. That's what makes Hayman's win so good. He was at the front the whole race and making the pace. Those expressing...

TDF 2016 design to give all the 'big 4' an equal chance?

The "showcasing france" were prudhommes words. He used them or close enough to it in an interview on SBS tv broadcast in Australia when asked about the route. I've also spoken to people in towns along the route (in 2012) and yes, they pay, but the bidding war doesn't start until the rough...

Do/should you ask before sucking wheel?

Its all right as long as you are going to do turns. If you are not up for doing turns you probably won't last anyway. If you just want to sit, better to ask.

TDF 2016 design to give all the 'big 4' an equal chance?

That explains why there are several days in the alps and the pyrenees. Every year. There mustn't be much money in the rest of France. Apart from Paris where they always seem to have the last stage. Strange. Maybe you only think you know.

Rate the 2015 Tour de France !

Rated it a 3 up until the last two stages where Quintana tried to made a game of it. Which brought it up to a 6. Nibali was never going to win with real competition. Yates boys showed some promise. Sagan showed he is capable of anything - just has to make his mind up what sort of a cyclist...

TDF 2016 design to give all the 'big 4' an equal chance?

Re: Re: Its more likely that the organisers design a route and the nerds pick it to pieces and claim it has been designed for one rider or another. So as far as catering for the riders involved they will usually be the same (different names but similar range of abilities). The organisers are...

TDF 2016 design to give all the 'big 4' an equal chance?

Re: Re: I think you'll find that the opening stage was considered a time trial (rather than a prologue). I'm not sure there are any rules regarding number and length of time trials.

TDF 2016 design to give all the 'big 4' an equal chance?

It seems Prudhomme is trying to design courses that have the best of France and cycling (steep mountains, open descents, technical descents, rolling farmland, windy coast, Belgian cobbles, time trials etc) with no transition stages. In doing so he gives some hope to time-trialers, climbers...

    Tour de France 2015 Stage 17: Digne-les-Bains-Pra Loup 161km

Re: Tour de France 2015 Stage 17: Digne-les-Bains-Pra Loup 1 Great look at the descent. I was going to comment on how conservatively the guy with the camera was riding but there are some pretty scary drops. Death or glory. Fantastic soundtrack. Any idea who it is?
