Harmon + Kelly is certainly the best combo I've come across.
Harmon certainly has his faults, notably the tendency to go "Whoooooaahhh ....!" whenever anyone attacks or "Oooohhhh ...!" if someone has a dodgy moment on a descent, even on the replay! His obsession with "bike handling skills"...
For what it's worth, I've never had a chain break with SRAM or KMC (which I'm currently using and am happy with) but I, my wife and my best mate have all had chain failures with Shimano 10-speed chains. (Different bikes and mechanics in each case so it's not just me!)
Michelin Krylion for me. Very racey performance and excellent puncture resistance.
I've had terrible experiences with Conti Ultra Gator skins. During the time I had them on my commuting bike (well over a year) I had far more punctures than I've ever had before or since. I think it is to do...
I've been a SiS man for quite a while but I recently bought a ZipVit sample box to try their stuff.
In summary, the ZipVit bars are delicious, but the ZipVit drinks are horrible! The ZipVit recovery drink looked and tasted like muddy water and the energy drink was like weak squash. In...
From your description, I'm guessing that you're talking about the battery in the wearlink transmitter (that attaches to the chest strap).
It is a stupid design, with the points of maximum leverage (the outer edges) having least depth to the groove, and with it being made of soft plastic it...
Kirby is excruciating to listen to at the best of times and his response to the Landis stuff had me fuming. Maggie's too polite to make a fellow commentator look like an idiot so he chose not to say much.
One Kirby gem from that race was in discussing George Hincapie's varicose vains...
For your first go at clipless I'd definitely recommend MTB-style Shimano SPD. You can have double-sided pedals, which makes it a LOT easier to clip into and the shoes have walkable soles. And they're cheap. I use SPD for my commuting fix-wheel.
I use Speedplay on the road. Speedplay...
I use the Santini arm warmers with an external gripper at the top and they're brilliant.
Although I'm reasonably tall I have skinny arms and with other arm warmers I've tried they're either too short or too baggy (or both) so always slip down. The Santini ones stay put. The external gripper...
A few riders persisted with the Prolight through the mountain stages (presumably because of the light weight) but on the Champs Elysees I don't think I saw a single Giro-sponsored rider wearing the new helmet. Hardly a great advert for Giro's new creation ...
