Steimle nearly closed the gap down for the peloton on his own by getting it down to 12 secs. Back out to over a minute now with 10km to go. These 23 aren't coming back.

Gap now coming down a bit but not going to be easy to close. A lot of teams represented in that 23 man break.

Special mention to Morné Van Niekerk as well. Like last year, in the break of the day and still right at the pointy end come the finish.

Brilliant race as ever. Impressive debut for the old campaigner Nizzolo. Another nice top 10 for Eddy Fine, especially with Zingle crashing behind.

Really chuffed for him after a very up and down Classics campaign.

Well that big crash hasn't exactly helped an already poorly organised chase. This race has been over for a long time now. All very dull. To make matters worse, we have the CK show as commentary too. Things don't get much worse than this for a big race.

That Vollering/Kopecky one two combination is pretty lethal it has to be said. Text book today though, rather than the sheer excitement of SB.
