Highest ranked French rider in the Tour GC

Jonathan Hivert is my pick! He showed at Paris-Nice that he can climb really well, he time trial good, and is a punchy rider like Valverde.

    Stijn Devolder

No, he doesn't have the ability to climb with the best, and doesn't have the recovery to be there every day. But maybe a stage win, like stage 15 or 16.

The "Dark Horse" case? (Contador,Armstrong,Cadel,Sastre aside)

About that... The Schlecklet actually did a good TT in Tour de Suisse where he placed 15th, I don't know but that might be a sign of improvement in the TT.

What's the LOWEST place each GC contender is likely to take?

Leipheimer was 18th 2008 giro as a super domestic to Bertie, and I don't think he'll be in the top 10. As for Rogers I don't believe he will do well.

Why are there no great all rounders anymore?

The best allrounder I can come up with is Alejandro Valverde. He has a really strong sprint, he can keep up with the best uphill, he can time trial fairly well. Edvald Boasson Hagen has the ability to be an allrounder but I knowhe's never going to be Contador class in the mountains.

So, who do actually want to win the TdF?

Then why the h*** are you posting in this forum? I think you're pathetic being 47 years old and sitting in a forum saying that you don't give a crap. So why?

    Bastille Day Winner Predictions

Benoît Vaugrenard wins a sprint in a small group over Sylvain Chavanel. Nah I don't really know, but that's a possible scenario.

Which is the best French team

Ag2r - La Mondiale is the overall best team, they got strong GC riders (VEfimkin, Valjavec), okay sprinters (Mondory, Hinault), Ardenne Men (Nocentini, A Efimkin) climbers (Dessel, Gadret, Goubert) and other quality riders (Roche, Clerc, Turpin, Elminger.)

TdF stge 1 Monaco ITT, 15.50 km

I predict a close fight between Cancellara and Leipheimer, maybe Bradley Wiggins too, but Cancellara wins, and keeps maillot jaune to Arcalis.

TDF GC - Time to talk

Nah, actually I think the mind game between Bruyneel/Armstrong and Contador, plus the finincial crisis will destroy the team from the inside. If someone takes a jersey or stage win, it's Zubeldia who wins a mountain stage from the break or takes the polka dot jersey.

TDF GC - Time to talk

My all over prediction is: Stage 1 (ITT): Fabian Cancellara (The best time trialer there are, and in super form) Stage 2: Daniele Bennati (Surprises Cavendish) Stage 3: Mark Cavendish (He's the best sprinter hands down.) Stage 4: Team Columbia - High Road ( They got Martin, Hincapie...

    National Championships

Well the National Championships are coming up, and many riders are using these as a preparation for the Tour. Who do you think will take the jerseys? Who uses them just for preparation? Discuss...

Who will win the Green Jersey?

Yeah, some sprinters can make it on their own like Freire, McEwen and also Bennati. While others like to have a train like Cavendish and Petacchi.

    TDF KOM winner

I stick with a wild guess and say David Le Lay!

    Official thread: Tour de Suisse

Cancellara will probably lose time, up Crans-Montana, which is a tougher climb than today's. I believe that if Saxobank would ride for Gustav Larsson they would have a really strong contender for the GC don't you think?
