best / worst moments of the 2009 TDF

Best Moments The anticipation for Mont Ventoux Thor's solo mountain odyssey for 12 sprint points Van Hummel's determination to stay in the race Astana soap opera 3rd place overall by that 38-year-old guy who came out of retirement, whoever that may be Setting the stage for a more anticipated TdF...

Yup, we'll agree to disagree, but you also said it, they were still gaining time, and that was all the motivation that SB needed at that crucial point. I know, it's still up for debate and different interpretations for a long time, and no one will ever find out the answer.

I think the opposite happened, because from what I saw on TV, SB (Saxo Bank, or Schleck Brothers) got a lot of motivation when they (after AC's attack) dropped AK, and they learned that they were distancing on LA. Thus the lead went up to 3 minutes. It was pretty obvious that AS and FS worked...

    Contador blasts LA

Imagine the frustration of the other teams trying their might to bust Astana. It wasn't even a whole team, because there's an LA and an AC faction. Poor Saxo Bank, Garmin, Liquigas, etc, couldn't beat a circus team.

    Contador blasts LA

Imagine this: AC arrived in Spain and does a press con. With the excitement still around him, what comes out of his mouth? Bashing Lance. You have this huge opportunity to thank his teammates, or say something magnanimous, on an important stage as a press con after his victory. What does he do...

Be careful what you wish for, he just might still win (except the white jersey of course)! LOL

Or HEAD-STRONG, being hardheaded that AC is!

You may be correct that AC loves racing, but pro racing is a team sport, and he has obligations to his teammates. Otherwise he should just stick to amateur bike races if he is selfish.

Did you follow St 16 and 17? Did he not attack BW both times? As for Ventoux, he did not have to, because he just had to mark them. He is protecting his 3rd place. But they got dropped, right? Including FS.

Did I say drop? Where did I say drop? I said "Don't attack!" So who said "Why didn't he (Lance)?" You! And now you're saying yes, he did. Dude, where do you get your facts? There's no point in arguing with you. If Andy was really stronger, then what did he do on the ITT vs Lance? 25 vs 38...

Why didn't he? Are you even following it? Hello? He did drop BW by about a minute, didn't he? But it's too late because SB got motivated having dropped AK and LA. The point is, it would not have been 2 minutes if AC worked together with LA and AK against SB.

Situation: The GC before the stage was AC, LA +1:37, BW +1:46, AK +2:17, AS + 2:26. AS, AK, AC and FS were in front ahead only +1:37 to LA, BW and others. If AC did not attack, LA would then drop BW later on (like he did the stage before) and latch onto the front group. At this point is is...

    Contador blasts LA

I was posting that in response to Publicus, who said that AC shouldn't have been concerned about AK or LA's GC spots. Exactly, you are echoing my point. I was reiterating that AC still Is concerned about his teammates, that was why he did not pace the SB's. Please read the previous threads.
