    Renewi Tour - 20-24 August 2025

The quality of a victory can be measured by the name of the second, so this is a pretty good win for De Lie. He played a game of poker and came out with a full house. Normally I don't like it when the bonus seconds are decisive, but this was exciting. For a one-week race a course like this can...

I'm pleasantly surprised that Pogacar is still following cycling - and not just when Urška is participating.

Today could be a battle for seconds. The "green kilometer", with three times 3-2-1 seconds, comes 22 km before the finish, in the penultimate lap, between the Keizersberg and the Wijnpers. Wellens should let MvdP and De Lie waste their energy in those sprints, and attack immediately after the...

Vuelta a España Vuelta a España 2025, Stage 1: Reggia di Venaria – Novara (186.1k)

Philipsen could win the opening stage in two GTs in the same year. Did anyone do that since Freddy Maertens in 1977? (Hinault did it in 1982, but the Giro prologue was a team time trial.)

The tandem Ayuso-Almeida sounds like a recipe for disaster. They'll probably roll over the floor fighting and blame each other for what went wrong. :imp:

Fantastic stage! The Kapelmuur never disappoints, especially with riders of this class. The stage win for MvdP was almost unavoidable; he looked more fluent on the climbs and he has the kick for that uphill sprint. However this was also the best performance by De Lie that I've seen, and he still...

Simon Yates had the #8 of his team for the Giro, so it doesn't necessarily bring bad luck.

That Johan Jacobs is in the break so often... With the strongest teams represented in the break, the question rises who's going to work in the bunch. The gap could go up to five minutes and more. The final looks attractive, with twice the duo Kapelmuur-Bosberg, and a finish on the "Vesten" -...

    Renewi Tour - 20-24 August 2025

It used to be the Benelux Tour, but Luxemburg was never in it, so they renewed the name. Breskens is in the Netherlands, so unlike last year the Netherlands are in it. The final stage has the local lap of what used to be the GP Jef Scherens, aka the GP Pouske Scherens, aka the Tour of Leuven...

ADAC Cyclassics Hamburg 2025, August 17

The previous editions were all bunch sprints. Milan and Girmay were second and third last year. However the course is tougher with five ascents of the Waseberg instead of three. That could be enough for Van Aert to make the gap, but Lidl, Alpecin and Intermarché will try to keep it together.

    Lesser known races 2025 edition

Friday the Tour of Colombia starts. This race is unique because of its extreme altitude. Five out of ten stages go over 2800 m. Stage 6 finishes on the Alto la Linea at 3261 m altitude. This makes the Mont Ventoux look like a molehill. One of the participants is 48-year old Oscar Sevilla for...
