Is this the worst season for stage racing in modern history?

But that didn't actually happen. That's something you have told yourself. In reality Sky won solo in the Yellow Jeresy on Vetoux and Alpe d'Huez. Froome won by attacking downhill. He attacked into a crosswind. Bernal won because he attacked in 2019. Froome did the boldest ride of the century...

    Velo d’Or 2023

He was lead out for a rider who won four stages. So not a failure. And he got ill.

    Velo d’Or 2023

The Velo d'Or isn't about contenders. It's about winners. What was Pogacar's number 1 priority this year? The Tour. He didn't win it.

    Velo d’Or 2023

This is a two horse race. And Van der Poel is currently in the lead. If he wins the MTB Worlds next week (which I don't think he will) then it should be all over - three WCs plus MSR and Roubaix. If he doesn't the Vingegaard must win the Vuelta - Dauphine, Tour, Vuelta tops Froome's double. I...

    Books on cycling

Yeah, but Tom got three books out of the format. And a podcast. Fordyce has created a genre.

    Books on cycling

The only ghost writer that I thought caught the riders actual voice was Freibe with Cavendish. I didn't get it with McEwen. But a big mention to Tom Fordyce who took a different approach with Geriant Thomas as he has with other sportsmen (eg Peter Crouch)

Teams & Riders Froome Talk Only

You have a point and I'm not comfortable calling him a doper on the basis of that test. However, according to WADA rules he was rightly disqualified. And Froome's would never have stood up at CAS, as it was lousy legislation, hence the dropping of charges. It's a legal matter not a moral one...

Teams & Riders Froome Talk Only

The post was long so I'll isolale this bit which is apparently the motive. 1. Why would anyone in the third week of a Grand Tour be worried about weight loss? He'd also done the Olympics and the Tour before. Losing weight would not have been a problem 2. In reaction to point 1 there will be a...

Lesser Known Road Racing for Women Thread

This is why I don't agree with the idea of equal prize money with the Men. By all means have equal money given as whole (per team per day), but for women's racing to grow the money from the race organiser money needs to be distributed more equitably. Making the richest richer at the expense of...

    Strade Bianche 2023, March 4, one-day classic (men's & women's)

A cycling version of The Traitors with Rui Costa, Simon Gerrans and Thomas Voeckler as the traitors would be amazing, I love those guys and their tactics - it's like poker.

Teams & Riders Chris Froome Discussion Thread.

For those thinking that Froome coming outside the top 100 means anything, you should note that Jai Hindley and Geraint Thomas were 100th and 101st. It's almost as though these people nothing to prove and can amble around.

When has Van Vleuten ever been out for more than a few weeks after a crash? Even with her Rio crash she was back winning within a month

    Next UCI president? (after Lappartient)

Absolutely. UCI's communications would be improved by 5000 word press releases which have no actual point.

Ex pro cyclists cropping up in unexpected places

I go to Cheltenham Gold Cup day every year and one year she rode in the amateur race that follows the Gold Cup. It's a proper high profile race with very experienced amateur jockeys, some of whom have won big pro races. And she came pretty close to winning - third I think.

Rough Attempt at an All-Time Ranking
