Teams & Riders Alberto Contador Discussion Thread

Did I say that strength matters on descents? I was refering to LaFlo's post, that Froome lost because he was a chicken. Which is not the main reason why he lost, as Nibali was way stronger on the climbs too. And there's where strength came into play.

If by stronger you mean better in the mountains/ITTs then I totally agree with you. But for me stronger means refers to all the terrains. I'm not saying that if you finish in front of someone you are stronger. Talansky was not the strongest in Dauphine, but won the race because of a tactical...

Saying that Froome was the strongest in Tirreno is bull****. Nibali won the race because he was better.

This may be legit, although I personally can't think of anything to dislike about the guy. For me he's the kind of rider who you either like or don't care about.

Is an abandon so hard to digest that you automatically start hating the rider who in the end won the race?

Not his fault Froome and Contador fall off their bikes, Froome skips TDF, Contador goes for the double, Wiggins doesn't show up in TDF 2012 form and Cadel gets older.

Who will win the 2015 tour de france?

Dan Martin will never get through the stage with cobbles in 1 piece.

    2015 Tour de France Route

Nah, Unzue is not that stupid. Quintana will be free to ride for himself unless Pity proves to be stronger and very consistent in the mountains, which is less likely than Valverde finishing the race as lantern rouge.

Teams & Riders Vincenzo Nibali discussion thread

So it seems like the new route favors Nibs and Nairito the most. Interesting to see if Quintana will improve enough to make up for the big time he'll most likely lose in the cobbles. Also interesting to see if Contador will handle the double right this time and be at the top of his game in July...

    2015 Tour de France Route

I didn't know where to post this and I don't think it requires a new thread. Considering that there is no long TT and the favourites will wait for the final kms of the climbs, the fact that there are bonus seconds at the top can make the climbs absolute borefests.

Who will win the 2015 tour de france?

I'm going to go with Nibali for another win. Froome will most likely go for Giro-Vuelta, Contador will have a hard and heavily contested Giro in his legs and Quintana will lose a bunch of time on the cobbles+possible crosswinds.

Already looking for excuses? Seriously speaking now, if Froome goes for the Giro AC's chances for the double are slim. He'll have to dig very deep to win the Giro if Froome peaks for it and it will cost him a lot in the Tour. If he's not at his best he'll never beat a top form Nibali...

Agreed. Choosing to skip the Tour is like acknowledging he's not the best climber anymore

So many revolving around the 2011 Giro as an argument, as if Nibali is the same rider he was back then  Also, so many referring to the fact that Nibali runs from his opponents. Tell me one time that has happened.
