    Bad Beef Epidemic

It's a huge suspension...but not that bad. Each game the team plays counts for a suspended game for Mota. So, his suspension will end somewhere in September. As a Giants fan, this sucks...but not as bad as the loss of three players due to injury. Anyway, Mota and Alberto in the same sentence odd.

    Tragic News

Simply horrible news. Craig presented himself on these very pages with a trademark energy, enthusiasm, and uncommon wisdom. I'm so sorry to read of this loss.

Would You Really Want To Be A Pro Cyclist?

Ya, there's a book waiting to be written. Lots of reason for my "no" vote, but mainly this: Last year I went down to Auburn, Ca to watch the start of one stage of the ATof California. I got to meet and talk to a number of the riders. It was quite a thrill. Then the peloton took a few neutral...

    Random Wheelsuckers

The remote roads of my usual rides! I'd welcome the company even if a wheel sucker. Usually, if I see someone approaching in my helmet mirror, I'll push it a bit to get an idea what I'm dealing with. If they stay with me...it's only to fly by. If they start to drop, I'll slow down to give a wheel.

    Jonathan Vaughters guest appearance

Hey JV, how are Garmin-B chances looking for Paris-Roubaix? Also, I've been wondering if you have considered CX bikes for that race?

    What beer ya drinkin'?

I almost had my lights punched out once for telling a bartender that he poured the Guinness wrong (he poured it like a Bud). This was a couple of years ago in a Caslno in Las Vegas. I usually don't make a fuss about this, but they were charging $8 a beer and I planned to have a few. Anyway, I...

    A very special milestone

Boomcie Is Totally Awesome: I usually don't like sequels, but this one is a page turner. Biographical in content, but it reads like a novel. A masterpiece and a must read. A drama of hardwork, perseverance, and personal achievement as it plays out in the grimy underbelly and mean streets of a...

Now Alberto is out, who will win the 2012 Tour de France?

First, the Vuelta will be so much easier to pick...fresh legs and an angry heart will win that one. The tour: I went with Cadel. Am I wrong in thinking that the course seems to favor him? But what about Thomas Voeckler? He's proven that he can hang in there but how are his TT skills? Wiggins...

    I'm new and need advise

This is all great advice above. The only thing I would add is even more patience than previously suggested. When I started cycling, I didn't hit a good, strong plateau of leg strength and endurance for three months. I was riding a lot, even then, and was amazed when it all came together. About...

    Tour of California 2012

I think last year's bust in Tahoe with snow and freezing weather shaped the thinking of the tour planners. A little precaution to prevent another weather disaster resulted in overkill...in the form almost wiping out the entire Northern California region. This is too bad, really. Anyone who knows...

The league of extremely juvenile gentlemen

Sorry for showing up to THIS party late (I've been busy with immature persuits elsewhere). But, hey, I think that my "body of work" on this forum speaks for itself. Development that is arrested at the juvenile stage should be celebrated. Any group that will have me as a member...well, something...
