We hope all of you have a great holiday season and wonderful Christmas. Thanks so much for being part of the Cycling News community in 2025 and beyond!
He looks half human this year at least. At least he behaves like one, he has peaks and troughs over the season. You'd expect someone that peaked for the Tour to not be in the same shape for the Vuelta.
Having said this, the watts that he put out in the TdF were ridiculous.
And what's the alternative? They put pressure on him early, the took away his domestiques through attrition relatively early. Then Vingegaard baulked at La Loze. The only tactic that has worked against him in the past is him having to cover attacks from different riders himself, like he had to...
Not sure we disagree exactly but i think in the last week Visma, tactically, wiped the floor with UAE, they completely negated Pogacar's domestiques and managed to isolate him. Yesterday's plan was very difficult to pull on and yet they did. I think though that Pog lives now rent free in...
Good points all. Most of the drag coefficient comes from the rider themselves not the bike.
With respect to the latter. The bikes themselves have become more aero compared to the noughties but there is plenty of anecdotal evidence on the net (companies won't of course volunteer this information...
The argument of the OP if I got it right is that it's OK for Vingegaard to have big jumps in performance at 24 but it's not OK for Pogacar, referring to the claim, I think, made in the Gianneti thread that he made a 10% jump in performance in the last couple of years. Which would have been valid...
In the Ineos thread there is a very good article from defector on the Aderlass-Ineos link and one thing that caught my eye is how easily teams and cyclists either threaten with litigation or outright sue journalists for doping allegations. Gone is the era of the printed media where the magazine...
The fact that it may be happening in general doesn't mean that UAE are using motors though, so framing the whole discussion on the assumption that they are somewhat diminishes its credibility.
I think it should be considered as a possibility (theoretically) but it's far more likely that they...
There have been plenty of discussions we even had two phds arguing over the finer points of uphill power production and estimation, there are 420 pages though in the thread there is little one can add in terms of arguments at this point, only reaffirm conclusions reached when new evidence is...
That's the point of the thread, to discuss whether we think some riders may be doping. A justification is useful but not necessary. If this annoys you then perhaps this is not the thread for you.
I don't disagree with either of the posts exactly but my thinking is closer to repoman's. Six months ago I would laugh at any suggestion of teams using motors, I am now more open to the idea, however, remain highly skeptical not so much cause I trust the moral compass of the teams/cyclists but...
