people do not realise that sanremo was a much more selective race in the past, every year that passes the course gets less selective, even though the profile does not change, simply because everything from materials to the riders' level gets better, and drafting becomes a huge factor. In my...

who will be at msr at this point to replace wellens and narvaez? I think christen can do a good job replacing wellens if he gets to cipressa in good position, in any case the outcome will heavily depend on del toro, he has to enter cipressa well and do a monster performance there

exactly because the gradient is low you need domestiques, with wellens, narvaez and del toro at their best no one except vdp at 110% of his form would keep the wheels of pogacar

philipsen is not a problem if they can do cipressa in 8:40

yep, honestly I don't see how uae can do what pogacar needs on cipressa, they struggled to do it with wellens and narvaez, imagine without both of them

from live images things don't look good, he probably broke his collarbone, for now it's just my speculation

with narvaez out and wellens out the chances for MSR are rapidly going to zero

I always look at these numbers with caution because they can be affected by many things, I prefer to look at relative gaps, he gained around 30 sec on lenny martinez and jan christen on a 17 minutes effort, he is clearly a huge talent but let's take it easy. Also he's only 20 years old but he's...

https://watts2win.eu/it/cyclist/20617/performance looking at the watts and the difficulty of the race seixas is at roughly the same level he was at in lombardia and europeans last year, or a bit below. I expect him to actually be close to pogacar in SB but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Also...

yes because in that precise moment he was pushing more than 400 watts (410 in the last 3 sec). Even in a zone 2 ride he probably does some short efforts, but I repeat you in the last 30 minutes his vam was 953, probably because the parcours was not all climbing but rather a mixed terrain...

please stop with the nonsense, VAM is already expressed as m/h in the computer, he was probably doing a zone 2 ride

del toro will be the key for MSR, what he did today was super impressive and shows he has probably improved. For cipressa at this point he has the key attributes to launch pogacar, because he can easily maintain an high pace for 3-4 minutes and then put down a huge acceleration. Only problem is...

nobody on uae roster can replace narvaez on cipressa, he's perfect for that effort and he's the only one who is explosive enough to create gaps on those gradients even before pogacar's attack (in '24 he managed to create a gap to everybody except 3-4 riders)

wtf are you talking about, it's clear he's trying the impossible: completing cycling in the modern era (winning all 3 GTs, 5 monuments, WCs, olympics and the 7 big one week races). The only way to have a chance for him is to be very selective in his calendar choice

he has chosen a very good calendar. He will start in march instead of february which is very smart plus he will not do amstel and fleche which is great considering the difficulty of PR. Romandie is not the best choice but still he will have a pretty light calendar before the tour, only 17 race...
