We hope all of you have a great holiday season and wonderful Christmas. Thanks so much for being part of the Cycling News community in 2025 and beyond!
wtf are you talking about, it's clear he's trying the impossible: completing cycling in the modern era (winning all 3 GTs, 5 monuments, WCs, olympics and the 7 big one week races). The only way to have a chance for him is to be very selective in his calendar choice
he has chosen a very good calendar. He will start in march instead of february which is very smart plus he will not do amstel and fleche which is great considering the difficulty of PR. Romandie is not the best choice but still he will have a pretty light calendar before the tour, only 17 race...
pog will not do dauphine, looking at del toro schedule (sb, msr, tdf) there are many races where he will have to work por pogacar so at least at dauphine he will be the leader, I expect pog to do tour de suisse (probably the only one week race he'll do before the tour)
it makes zero sense to start that early to do an irrelevant race. It's clear from this year that doing all 5 monuments, the wc and the tour is exhausting even for pogacar, and starting racing that early would make things even worse. And the prize is just winning TDU? come on, it would be stupid
his main rivals today (vingegaard and VDP) are older than him so they won't close the gap. Evenepoel will probably reduce the gap in one day races but not in GTs. Del toro and seixas can improve a lot but I don't see them reaching pogacar's level in big races (monuments, WCs and GTs) in the next...
Pogacar in week 3 of the tour was significantly below his top level (the level he had in the first 2 weeks or in week 3 of tour 2024 or even in lombardia a few days ago). That is just a fact, supported by the numbers he did on long climbs and the gaps with respect to the others. And pogacar...
pogacar on top form would have won 2/3 stages in week 3, dropped vingegaard easily (just like in dauphine and hautacam) and would never have been dropped by van aert. Just look at his week 3 in tour de france 2024. If it's not clear to you that something went wrong I don't know what to tell you...
still it's clear from week 3 that something went wrong with his body so the connection with the crash is very easy, at least they should have mentioned it
It's just incredible how all commentators never mentioned the crash during week 2 and 3 of the tour. If it was another rider who crashed like that they would still be talking today about how it affected him. Now we have the confirmation from pog himself that something went wrong at the tour. It...

yes it is, only Pdb was better, isola very similar. This year at hautacam his level was lower. The peyragudes TT was better in terms of pure watts but it can't be compared, this was a 240 km race
this performance is better than anything he did at the tour this year, better than hautacam and peyragudes. It's top 3 in his career. Pdb is a tiny bit better, today's performance was probably even better than in isola 2000
