Teams & Riders Alberto Contador Discussion Thread

To be fair, I still think he would have closed him down. I still believe that Contador is top3 in the world with Froome and Quintana depending on day form, team, parcours, but Froome is the more explosive rider of the two. The Dauphine prologue display was impressive, and also the last...

Teams & Riders Alberto Contador Discussion Thread

And I know how big a fan of Contador you're, so you should know that his acceleration isn't the same as before. To be it's clear as a daylight that he's a different kind of climber now, due to age.

Teams & Riders Alberto Contador Discussion Thread

I think you should watch his competition in paris-nice. I'm not saying he can't drop anybody, because he easily dropped G. Thomas in Paris-Nice as soon as the climbs were hard enough, but his only real mountain competitor in that race, Porte closed him down. He still has the "spark" to drop...

Teams & Riders Alberto Contador Discussion Thread

What is that "spark" all people are claiming Contador still has? The last time his acceleration was fierce was in 2014, some small indications in early giro 2015, but he haven't had that big acceleration in all 2016. He's more of a diesel climber now, and it's totally normal with the age 33...

    Chaves vs A Yates

I don't understand why people always make the assumption, that these teams line up to win. Orica knows that neither Chavez or the Yates brother can win the TdF next year, so their goal will probably be a top5. Chavez may have a opportunity to win the Giro, or at least be a favourite to podium...

Teams & Riders Chris Froome Discussion Thread.

@Tonton Obviously someone will eventually take Froomes place, and he'll be - as you say - "Wigginsed out". That's just the nature of the sport. But for it to happen while Froome is still at the top of his game, they'll need someone who's even better than him. I just don't see that guy right...

Teams & Riders Chris Froome Discussion Thread.

Re: Interesting comment. I guess you mean "strongest" GC wise. I'm not sure Froome is the strongest GC rider without his team, i guess that's what you're implying too? I think it's the whole package with Froome and a strong team that makes him look a notch better than he is. And i don't...

Teams & Riders Chris Froome Discussion Thread.

Re: Re: The 2012 route was really TT heavy, and the field was very weak climbing wise. I think that explains a lot. If you remove Froome from the scenario and put a climber like Quintana or Contador against 2012 Wiggins on that route, I think the result would've been different. Nibali was weak.

Re: Re: I guess that's a matter of opinion. I haven't been following the discussion very closely in the Contador thread because of all the bs being thrown around in there. I don't know why you would say that Contador wouldn't be able to challenge Froome. I didn't say he would beat him, we...

    Tejay Van Garderen Discussion Thread

This guy will never accomplish anything big in a GT. He's actually a quite decent rider, but he's the typical top10 rider for the Tour. I'm not sure he can even manage higher in the Giro and Vuelta because of the steep climbs - maybe the Vuelta. You can't blame him for not trying, when he's...

Teams & Riders Nairo Quintana discussion thread

Have he really been so much worse than normal? I'm not so sure. I can remember him being the 2nd best climber behind Froome in both 2013 and 2015 in the first few mountain stages, and then the best in the last few stages. But the thing is that the other GC guys seems to have upped their level...

Teams & Riders Nairo Quintana discussion thread

Re: By the time Froome start to decline, there will probably a new GT star with a good TT and climbing skills. Quintana could very well turn out to be the next Andy Schleck in that sense. Still think Andy Schleck was a far more exciting rider though.

Teams & Riders Chris Froome Discussion Thread.

Loved the trolling he did today :D Tbf he doesn't really look that good, but neither does his competitors. We also haven't seen him being forced to go deep yet. His biggest "blessing" was when Contador crashed and got injured, because Tinkoff and Contador would've been the only one to...

    Team Ineos Discussion thread

Yesterday on danish TV2 they said that SKY in 2015 paid 180 mio. DKK in wages only. That's around 17 mill. pounds. That's more than most of the WT's budget for the whole organization.
