    Urine Trouble

My question as well. From what I've heard, getting international Letters Rogatory is a pain in the derriere. Why not grab all relevant samples at once.? If there is a problem with the custody of the 1999 samples, you've got other years, where the chain might be stronger, to test also.

    What bike/bikes are you riding?

Is that a soup thermos in the cage on the seat tube? Not a bad idea actually.

Who resembles you the best? (among the pro riders)

I had forgotten about Lance and the Olson twin(s).

    6700 or force

I ride Force and Shimano 105 with Ultrega chain. The rear mechs are both precise. Both are quiet when clean, both are noisy when dirty. The Force rear mech does chuck down into smaller cogs, but doesn't bother me. The 105 (and Ultrega, I've test ridden it) front chain rings are...

What are the wings on brake pad cartridges for?

Thank you for the replies. I won't be so tentative when putting the wheel back in next time, I'll just jam that baby in there knowing I've got the wings to guide me.

What are the wings on brake pad cartridges for?

Does anyone know what the wings on brake pad cartridges are supposed to do? For example: http://thechainring.com/bike-parts/brake-parts/tektro-cartridge-tektro-brake-pads/ It looks sort of aerodynamic but I doubt that's the purpose.

    Learning languages

In terms of learning by reading (as a substitute for immersion if that is not an option for you), I might suggest cycling magazines (interesting for two reasons!) and also history books. History books seem to use a more straightforward style, not as much of the stylistic messing around you find...

Graphic Discussions of Cycling related deaths - Reader Caution Advised!

Here's a link to the latest news on the Alpine Road accident in Portola Valley, California. The driver has a history of accidents, including fatal ones, and including some that were clearly not his fault. Just an crash magnet it seems...

Best mud guards/fenders for road bikes?

I logged in to ask whether anyone had tried the Crud roadracer mk2's and lo and behold, a thread already. One thing I've noticed about most fenders is that the front fender does not go low enough to prevent spray from getting on your shoes. Heck, the worst part about riding in the rain is...

    Statement by Floyd Landis

Because he's already told what he knows. Any scientist can now repeat it as a matter of research. There is no reason to make a celebrity out of him. We've discussed this before, but the reason doping continues is because the up side is so high and the down side is a 2 year suspension...

    request to CN: verify weights

Every discussion of weight prompts a response like this... My question is why do you assume that people are reducing the weight of their bike, or their own body weight, but not both.

    Squirrel encounter

OMG! Geese are my second most hated cycling enemy. The ones we have here are black and gray, they camouflage very well with the road, especially if you have polarized lenses, seems to work in the geeses' camo favor. If they are waddling at least you can see them, but the cheeky ones who...

What was the most extreme thing you did because you are a cyclist?

Riding at night in the dead of winter. I think the grey of dusk and dawn is the most dangerous time to ride so... in the dead of winter I can't get time to ride before work (sun up too late) or after work (sun down too early) so I ride late night. It's cold and sort of scary (I picture...

Lance's Legacy: How Lance Changed Cycling

Apparently he's been good for thousands of threads on who knows how many cycling forums (even though people try to dedicate one thread to him). It bothers me the same way the Lindsey Lohan's of the world bother me. I don't think society chooses to make controversial f-ups and a-holes famous...
