1990-2010 A Look Back at Remarkable Men

Only because they were in some cases bigger names in the late 80's/early 90's Mottet in 87 tour springs to mind, Van Hooydonk won the last couple of clean (allegedly) Flanders and refused to dope, they were big names in their day but not the biggest... or perhaps just not tour winners?

    Marco Pantani?

Bah Funny how even in his shame and retirement Armstrong can still hijack a thread... This is about Pantani, I was a teenager racing in the UK when Pantani burst onto the scene in 1994. He was exciting to watch even if you knew (which we were not daft enough not to know) that his, as many...

Chris Boardman and his 1996 Hour Record

I am a new visitor to the clinic having seen this as the most recently posted upon thread but having had a bit of a look around it would appear to me that you seem to have some sort of severe case of sour grapes, you are a convicted doper and supplier, you state that these are actions now in...

Response to the Mapei as the best team ever article.

But the other two were ordered to wait for him when he punctured with 8k to go, if they had put their heads down he would never have got back on. He was very lucky that day, Ballo was waay stronger but punctured just when they went away otherwise he might well have been the one to win it.

Response to the Mapei as the best team ever article.

nope roubaix 1996, Tafi wanted second because he knew he did not have enough pull in the team to ask for first and he was seriously upset that he was not allowed it, he said at the time he would make sure he was on his own sometime in the future to avoid such a situation again. Bortolami was...

    Contador acquitted

Indeed, until proven guilty by something like... oh I dont know.... a positive test maybe? He had his reasonable doubt when he was implicated in Puerto, will it take him coming to see you with a needle in his arm and a bag of blood on the other end?

    Contador acquitted

I have been a cyclist for over 20 years now and always as a huge fan of the professionals, this is too much for me to stomach and I have lived through the real ****... Festina, Telekom, Puerto, Hamilton, Flandis, etc... the man is guilty and has gotten off on a technicality (until the appeal to...

Who has the Best/Worst riding style in the Peloton?

Goin back a few years.... Fondriest - class, pure class Berzin looked great with or without sauce..... Zulle never looked very comfortable
  9. R

    Kloden, really?

Doped he may well be, but he is still class on a bike, so smooth, great cadence, etc. Dope doesn't make a racehorse out of a donkey and he certainly doesn't look like a donkey when he throws his leg over a bike.

Has The Sub 8 Hour Stage

Fignon in his biography says that only the truly greatest riders can win when you get up to the 250k mark I agree with him and reckon we would see a different, perhaps more honest result.... think of the silly gaps we used to see in the LeMond, Hinault, etc 80's tours

    The Most Devastating Attack

Oh yeah, almost forgot Indurain TDF into Liege 95 And Rominger, I think its the Sierra Nevada stage of the Vuelta 94... Duffield on commentary "Rominger's gone up to him.... Rominger's gone past him...", yes it may have been fuelled by sauce but it made Ullrich to Andorra look like a Sunday...

    The Most Devastating Attack

Bartoli in Liege 1998, Flanders 1996, Fleche 1999. Vandenbroucke Liege 99, Avila 99. Berzin Liege 1994 Fondriest Milan-San Remo 1993 Loads more to mention too

    Renshaw out

Dean clearly tried to lean on Renshaw (the white line on the road on the overhead shot shows this clearly) who retaliated ith a nudge with his head (a nudge), the third time was a headbutt and not necessary and closing the door on Farrar was wrong but I am not coninced it is a kicking out of the...

Who will win more - Greipel or Cavendish?

Greipel will probably win on numbers this year but Cav ought to edge it on quality. Which is better qulity or quantity? especially when the quality of Greipel's wis will probably look pretty good too (just not as god as what Cav might end up with)
