    General News Thread

Hope I'm posting in the right place. So reluctant to start a new thread being a BMC/Cadel fan and all. Hope this is considered "general news" and is taken as intended. Anyway Floyd has basically admitted he's going to use motors when he comes back to racing...

Spectators on climbs - ASO Act Now!

Sorry no - the problem is there are none (or very few) police placed on the course in France. Where there is a police presence things go pretty well. I've been to the last 5 tours and the lack of police on the course (in key spots) is woeful. On Luz Ardiden this year I was 3.5km from the top...

    2011 TDF: Stage 19 - Modane - Alpe-dÂ’Huez

That was my thinking too but these are the only speeds avail on the official schedule. Current avg is 35kmh and oc the the still have the alpe to go.

    2011 TDF: Stage 19 - Modane - Alpe-dÂ’Huez

been working on that: if avg speed is 34-35kmh - then 27mins 43 secs if avg speed is 36-37kmh - then 29 mins 55 secs if avg speed 38-39kmh - then 31 mins 52 secs My maths is hopeless so would really love if someone could check this...

So....cav outside time limit but race organisers let him stay in TDF

Unfortunately in my job I am way too familiar with their ways but I have yet to see them in action at the tour. To be honest I don't know how unions affect the tour but I'm pretty sure their usual labour laws do not apply. Take the caravanne for example. They start about 1.5 hours before...

So....cav outside time limit but race organisers let him stay in TDF

A couple of points: - in reality cut off times have nothing to do with logistics. Yes it will upset some minimum wage ASO workers if a rider comes in an hour late but have you ever seen/heard of them pulling a rider off the road. Those at the top are already in their hotels or helis. - the...

    Cadel Evans appreciation thread.

I think he was genuinely surprised that no one else would work with him at the bottom of the last climb. He appeared to make an offer to TV but was turned down. The other GC contenders seemed to have resigned themelves to a podium place only. Also he probably wasn't entirely sure how Contador...

    2011 Tour de France Stage 18 - Pinerolo - Galibier Serre-Chevalier 200.5km

Maybe they need a HC coefficient cut off time? :)

    2011 Tour de France Stage 18 - Pinerolo - Galibier Serre-Chevalier 200.5km

It would also likely result in a team rebellion and the boycotting of all future ASO events and the establishment of a new rival tour where the teams get a percentage of the TV revenue. Do we really want that?
