Music! What are you listening to now?

I remember reading the Village Voice's review of The Replacement's LP 'Tim' back in '85. The critic (Robert Christgau, maybe, not sure) opined that the only act in their league was Husker Du, but he preferred The 'Mats because of their sense of humour. ..........awkward pause............crickets...

Yeah, sorry, Purple Rain and Zen Arcade weren't even the best albums to come out of Minneapolis that year. That was The Replacements Let It Be and "I Will Dare" you to refute that claim. Of course, I know that any feeble argument you could make would leave me "Unsatisfied". Okay, I'll stop now. :p

Music! What are you listening to now?

My favorite Go-Betweens albums are 'Tallulah' and 'The Friends of Rachel Worth'. I never got to see them live, but my sister and I saw Robert Forster play Joe's Pub in 2008. We were seated at the very front and after the band left the stage I swiped the playlist which had been taped on the floor...

"The best thing about Susan Sleepwalking......she don't know what she's doing" :D Thanks for this. You've inspired me to pull out my cassette copy of 'Million Seller'. I'm always apprehensive about discovering a tape has disintegrated after years of sitting on a shelf, but this one was still in...

Au secours! Help! Bike, north carolina

I've just been perusing the Ticketmaster website, and I've discovered that Bob Dylan will be playing Asheville on the 30th of April. But don't tell Zam_Olyas- he'll be bitterly jealous. :D As for a scenic ride, I would recommend taking Highway 74 southeast over Hickory Nut Gorge to Chimney...

    Breaking news...Armstrong stripped off moonlanding

Don't you people get that the OP's overriding mission was to ridicule the Armstrong named Lance and not the one named Neil? I'm sure this comes off as rather patronising, but that can't be helped. I personally can't see the equivilency between the slaughter of 3000 men, women, and...

    The latest metroplitan horror

This weapons company's website stated clearly that this gun fires 3000 rounds per minute. That's 50 rounds per second. You want to make some distinction because each barrel 'only' fires 8.3 rounds per second. But, from what I can gather, the barrels are controlled by a single trigger and fire...

    Any movie recommendations for weekend?

Yes, I've seen "Bruno" (also based on a TV character :p). It was funny, but not "Borat" funny.

    A proposed doping solution

You know, c&c fan, I've always appreciated your signature line, as it tells me that you acknowledge, at least implicitly, what you really are. ;)

    Phil and Paul

I'm guessing our British forum members got a chuckle out of Paul's remark during the TT when Cadel was shown taking a sip from his bottle. Paul reckoned that Cadel was being extra careful, since during the Dauphine TT he'd "lost his bottle".
