    Re: Moto-fraud: first rider caught Indeed, if a motor applies the power at the axle/spindle then an SRM or spider based powermeter will detect those additional watts. If a powermeter is used with the strain gauges in the crank arms then those additional watts from a motor would not be measured.

    Motors might have been available in 1998, but batteries with sufficient energy density and weight to be practical on a racing bike weren't. This story is a bit of a farce.

    Re: In which case, and as Alex alluded too, why was he being dropped on climbs in the 2008-2011 period despite his race weight and threshold power apparently not being much different to what it is now. Even at 71kg he would be at 5.9 W/kg on climbs so why wasn't he up there in summit finishes...

    This is awful, I thought it was going to turn into the Web 2.0 nightmare that is BikeRadar.com People liked cyclingnews.com because it had a simple clean design. That is now broken. :(
