I'm not so sure. He probably cared on stage 2 because he was in yellow and felt that he had a chance to keep it. I agree with the previous post, Sagan is likely to just take it easy today. That said, I sure hope I'm wrong.

There was nothing dangerous about what Cav did, it's just part of normal sprinting. He moved to the right to pass Veelers, who was dropping back having been part of the lead out. Seeing Cav going to the right, Veelers shifted right to block/impede Cav. Cav shouldered him to protect his line...
