I suspect it might be engine use here and there and that's why some data points don't make sense.

The most obvious examples of motor use I have seen is Froome on Ventoux 2013, Contador on Mortirolo 2015 and Pogacar in 2020 on the flat part of the TT. They are not using hub motors, it's crank motors perhaps with waterbottle as battery, but even that is not necessary to get a huge advantage...

Puccio and Castroviejo kept Bernal safe before that and Moscon and Narváez was still keeping up the pressure...

The norwegians say they want a bunch sprint. I hope they dont go all in for that to happen. EBH needs to be at the front on the last lap to follow attacks. If he can do that, Norway has a very good chanse of getting rainbow jersey. EBH won't help since he has Kristoff in the bunch and Norway...
