    Robert Millar becomes Phillipa York

I'm delighted that Philippa now feels ready to re-engage with the world of cycling and the wider public. I can't imagine how hard her journey has been but I hope her future is happy and fulfilled. I have really enjoyed reading the articles by "Robert Millar" in recent years and I hope this means...

The "Where did you ride your bike today?" Thread...

Up the hourquette d'ancizan with my 7yr old son. His first Col. Got the Km market as a souvenir! Started from the turn off from the Aspin road as that road is so busy. Still 10km and all the hard bits! It's a lovely climb and now far more well known. Lots of people cycling.

    Hierarchy of races

Going back to the OP. If I was a Pro this would be be my personal order PR (means you're hard!) WCRR (nice jersey and you can have the bands on subsequent jersies) ORR (gold medal :nice!) Flanders (famous in Belgium and you're hard) LBL (you're tough) MSR ( can relax for the rest of the season)...

Froome stays in yellow, the right decision?

Do they have the same rule re finishing the stage with your bike or completing the course at the Giro? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3jeB9_VmkNc I shouldn't laugh when I watch this but I can't help it.

Froome stays in yellow, the right decision?

I know there have been examples of bad luck befalling leaders or contenders before. I was just trying to think of examples where it is the race organisers (or officials) who have actually taken out the person and potentially altered the entire outcome of the race. We saw the situation a couple...

Froome stays in yellow, the right decision?

A number of people have mentioned there have been previous examples of riders being taken out but not given special treatment. I have to say I'm struggling to think of another example where a condender for GC in a stage race was brought down by one tour vehicle and then had their bike smashed...

    2016 TdF, Stage 8: Pau → Bagnères-de-Luchon (184km)

Did Froome accelerate at the top of the earlier climbs (and annoy everyone else in the process) so that they wouldn't react when he did it on the final climb? Quite clever.

How to make these long boring flat stages less boring?

Normally you can rely on French farmers or similar to have a protest and blockade the road on these sort of stages to liven them up. That usually does the trick. On a really good stage they'll set fire to one of the TV crew's cars. (or is that the Basques?) Anyway, even more fun would be the...

Dave Millar - anti doping hero

I thought he looked like Rupert Everett. Sorry, can't do images!

    Mo Thread

The most disturbing aspect of the article is that they write " couldn't here the testers".

If there was one clean rider...

Although it would be fun if Cyclingnews or one of the publications did a feature on trying to find the first clean rider of each tour and actually asked riders to nominate themselves as the winner it doesn't really work like that. Outside the top 10 or so the riders are not racing for position...

    UK General Election

Re: Re: I've not met anyone who doesn't want a decent welfare system. There can be debates about how to achieve best value for money and what the welfare system should be trying to achieve. With regards the last thirty years: 12 of those have been under a Tory government 13 under labour...

    UK General Election

Re: Re: The problem was that's despite a number of years of strong economic growth the Labour Party had been overspending so the deficit was already very large prior to the global financial crisis.that meant we were not only hit harder but could not also could not pay their way out of a...

    UK General Election

Re: Well if we want to have a decent welfare system etc the first thing we need is a strong economy to pay for it. Voting conservative is not very cool as it's always more popular to focus on spending money rather than generating or saving it. At the moment the Uk can't afford to pay for a...
