    Tour de France Tour de France 2024, Stage 5: Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne > Saint-Vulbas, 177.4 km

    *** me, that's incredible. What an achievement. I didn't think it's possible.

2023 Tour de France: Who do you want to win?

I don't dislike Pogacar or Vingegaard, but anyone except those two winning would be great, a Frenchman especially.

Poll: Who will win the 2023 Tour de France?

Pogacar easily and convincingly imo. I don't think last year was a fluke, but circumstances were unfavourable for Pogacar and he won't let this happen again.

    86th Tour de Suisse (2.UWT) // June 11th - 18th 2023

Bicycles imo just aren't safe at 90 km/h, with the tiny tires, flimsy (compared to motorcycles) materials, narrow forks etc. Going that speed even on a high tech road bike is madness to me.

That doesn't look that awfully dangerous, but accidents often happen at non-obvious places, and any crash can be dangerous on a bicycle.

    RIP Gino Mäder (1997 - 2023)

Oh no, how horrible. :( Again and again this keeps happening. ***. RIP, Gino!

Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

Belgian journalists criticising Remco for leaving the Giro after testing positive for Covid19 is the dumbest *** thing I've heard in a while. I wonder what goes on in the mind of some fatass typing something like that on twitter while drinking a beer on the couch.

    Giro d'Italia 2023 Giro d'Italia, Stage 7: Capua - Gran Sasso d'Italia (Campo Imperatore), 218 km (Friday, May 12)

Maybe people should get some work done on a weekday afternoon. If you're not in the office, then vacuum your apartment or fold some clothes or something. Makes watching cycling way more enjoyable.

    Giro d'Italia 2023 Giro d'Italia, Stage 7: Capua - Gran Sasso d'Italia (Campo Imperatore), 218 km (Friday, May 12)

I think the reason is the ongoing and tightening internationalisation of pro cycling. Of course (almost) everyone cheers more diversity in the sport, more winners from uncommon countries etc., but it also leads to a levelling between the different races. The Giro doesn't have 5 Italians who have...

    Giro d'Italia 2023 Giro d'Italia, Stage 5: Atripalda - Salerno 171 km (Wednesday, May 10th)

Ok, but how's anybody supposed to read your mind regarding what you actually mean with a comment that on the surface is pretty distasteful?

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

Sure. I meant, if because of this injury he can't go to the Tour in top form, that wouldn't necessarily be so bad.

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

From a completely egoistic point of view (as a cycling fan) I'll say it's fine actually. A month and a half break after such a spectacular early season is well deserved, and if he goes to the Vuelta (and wins), that would start to round out his palmares nicely. However, he seems to be confident...

Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

The only argument against Remco would be that he's only #3 in UCI points scored in 2022 behind Pogacar and Van Aert (PCS too), but it's a weak argument imo, winning races is what counts. Vingegaard is the only other half-reasonable opponent.
