I think he was the reason why the group ended up riding for the win. He was burying himself for several laps straight without getting much help. Probably treated it as a hard training ride. Without him, no Eddy win I think.

Harper looks a bit cooked. Bettles, Bleddyn and Christie-Johnson were the three who could follow the two Jaycos just now. But Harper, Marriage and two others have made it back to the front now.

Welsford dropped from the break, so the Jayco pair will be feeling a little bit better. But the WT guys in the peloton has kinda gotten going now, gap down to 3.20 with 60km remaining. Gilmore, Mackellar and Vine have been doing quite a lot.

Not really, but the most important ones would be O'Connor, Durbridge, Harper, Welsford, Bleddyn, Marriage, Saunders. The important guys who are not there, i.e. almost five minutes back in the peloton, are Vine, Plapp (and the rest of Jayco), Dinham, Chamberlain, Walsh, Gilmore, Howson...

To be fair to Vine, this one is difficult without a single teammate. Didn't watch when the breakaway went, but I can imagine that Jayco weren't too keen on drilling it with Vine in their wheels. And it's not easy to cover absolutely everything.

I did some numbers just for fun. If you take Pog's 2025 season and put Remco in the spot directly behind Pog in every race and stage (and minus the leader jerseys), he'd get 3239 points, compared to Pog's 5080. Which shows what a huge difference it is if you're a serial winner at that level...
