Tour de France Tour de France 2021, Stage 21: Chatou – Paris Champs-Élysées, 108.4 km

Mike Teunissen will be getting a call from Quickstep shortly. What a leadout.

From behind, lol. Not doing the post-race interview shows that Philipsen took this up really high. All the scripted PR make-up, kiss up afterwards, is just laughable. Alpecin know they are a small Conti team, they don't want any enemies, especially not in DCQ and against a popular guy like...

I guess you completely missed Philipsen's arm movement at the finish line or missed the fact that Philipsen didn't do a post-race interview. The guy was furious, zero doubt. This is just their PR manager making things right. That fools most, of course.

Theo Bos: Cav really didn't need that swerve. Shame about this sprint. Not sure if the jury should/would allow it. I like clean sprints. This wasn't clean. But yeah. Who's gonna relegate the comeback kid, ey?

Tour de France Tour de France 2021, Stage 6: Tours – Châteauroux, 160.6 km

It's Cav re-introducing toxic sprint styles from way back when he was still sprinting. I thought the Jakobsen-Groenewegen affair woke everybody up on how not to sprint, but the Cav fanboys just throw all that sanity out of the window, and that includes TV commentators. If this kind of sprinting...

"And you obviously didn't notice the blatant move of the Alpecin-Fenix lead out guy to try to block Cav as he went backwards into the peloton. That sort of thing should result in the whole team being relegated. " Fallacy: 2 wrongs don't make one right. Where did this happen? I just rewatched...

Yes, it looks like Cav is the fastest, but Philipsen is running a big gear and starts to speed up, right when he needs to brake for a second because of Cav's deviation. I still think Cav would probably have won, but I can't be sure now. Enough to file a complaint, at least.

Seriously. The Cav fanboys are out in force. Who can defend a deliberate 1.5 meter "swerve" in the last 100 m? 100% relegation. But yeah, it's Cav. I hope Alpecin will sandwich him out tomorrow. But then the jury will intervene of course.

I'm already done with Cavendish. He cut off both Alpecins in typical fashion. Moved 1.5 meters off his sprinting line, this should have been a DQ. But yeah, it's Cav. On Eurosport, nobody even noticed his blatant move.

Tour de France Tour de France 2021, Stage 7: Vierzon – Le Creusot, 249.1 km

VdP in the breakaway. All GC guys think VdP will leave for Tokyo the day after, and happily give VdP 10 minutes, just to have a quiet day in the bunch for once. VdP wins the stage, and then does his big surprise move: he stays for Paris! Haha :D. Major shock. VdP then contests the Tour victory...

Teams & Riders The "MVP" Mathieu Van der Poel Road Discussion Thread

Anybody notice that, even while pulling for Merlier's sprint for a full kilometer in the final, with still more than 1 k to go, VdP just rejoins the pack, and moves up and gets in the top 10? VdP was 7 and 12 in the two sprint stages, with ease. Anybody else would just get dropped and end 30s...

Losing all your teeth and having to relearn how to speak is a pretty bad deal, until you compare it with the more hortific and frankly more likely scenarios here.

Teams & Riders Froome Talk Only

Re: Exactly, I'm Dutch so I listened to all the Dutch interviews as well. Poels' one was very, very strange indeed. And Knaven didn't even mention anything about Froome's open leg fracture, which is weird, because that's the most acute and critical injury which you don't see that often. And...

Instead of just silencing these rumours with some evidence, hell, even some x-rays or so, they give us nothing. The tinfoilhatters have a field day in this way, can't blame them really. This is the age of mobile phones everywhere, except in such a major event involving a 4-time TdF winner.
