We hope all of you have a great holiday season and wonderful Christmas. Thanks so much for being part of the Cycling News community in 2025 and beyond!
He can't skip the Tour the coming years, sponsor-wise, especially with his royal salary.
Maybe in 2028 with the Olympics, a Giro-Vuelta combination is possible.
Next year, I hope on a similar schedule as this year. Skip UAE Tour, main goal Roubaix, and also try to win the three Ardennes...
Hopefully a few weeks off will reload Pog's battery for WC and Lombardia.
I think the attitude of his opponents also plays a role in his feelings about the last stages. In the classics (and also yesterday) opponents like MVDP, Pedersen and WvA are always willing to ride and attack, making it a...
He said in Dutch media that he will finish. After the stage to Pla d'Adet, where he was in the break, he said he felt really good. So his form is really coming. I think he will try to go for the break in the Barcelonette stage, and then finish the last three stages easily. He's perfectly on...
I think the chance is nearly 0 that Pogi will ride the Vuelta. Even after riding only 1 GT (TDF) the last years, he was totally dead at the Tour and really had to recover quite a long period (San Sebastian was too soon). In Glasgow, he seemed more dead than alive. So I think he will just focus...
I say Pogacar. Jonas has been very impressive, but I still think Tadej has stepped up his game this year. He wasted energy on Sunday, but he also showed he was ridiculously strong, Jonas was really struggling to hold on.
My main doubt is if the Giro will still kick in heavily. If not, I don't...
Especially the team surprised me, Almeida was great but also Ayuso did his part. Jorgenson dropped a bit earlier than expected, so that's also positive for Pog.
Important stage today. I hope today doesn't give more confirmation that UAE f***** up the team selection by bringing too much people (Almeida, and especially Ayuso) in the team that aren't eager to work for the king and are riding for their own GC. Yates did his part Sunday. I think it will be...
This should be way too hard for sprinters like Philipsen, Pedersen, de Lie, Girmay. Even for MvdP the climbs shoud be too long. I don't expect a big attack from UAE but a high pace. Possibility for Aranburu/Lapeira? I hope on such (kind of) surprise as first yellow yersey leader.
@mou Aren't you afraid Pog will be too lean with 63 kg at the Tour, and with that too susceptible to illness? If it is a weight he never reached before, it could be quite risky.
Kooij also survived that first stage of P-N and beat Pedersen in the sprint. If Pog and MvdP start looking to each other and don't ride Poggio as fast as possible, I wouldn't rule him out.
Pog also said that on the day of Col de la Loze, his stomach didn't process the food so he became empty at the end. How do they make sure that won't happen again?
Thanks.
Another question. Aren't you afraid that Pog is a bit tired after riding the Giro in 100% shape and it won't be possible to keep that shape the full three weeks in the Tour?
