    Rigoberto Uran discussion thread.

Yes, Uran's stage 10 attack failed in that respect But the time he gained means that if he tries it again, Astana will be forced to chase. Evans's one-man-band can't do it. Looks like a reasonable team strategy to me. The one fly in Sky's ointment is that VF-SI are now Astana's (or...

    2013 Giro d'Italia Stage 10 : Cordenons - Altopiano Del Montasio 167 km

Well, by that measure the current generation must suck ... cos he's really not in Il Falco's league as a technical descender ... in fact I'd say that both Cancellara and Sagan were significantly better. What Nibali has is enormous balls ... he's a risk taker, who expects to fall now and then...

    2013 Giro d'Italia Stage 10 : Cordenons - Altopiano Del Montasio 167 km

Tough luck, RAI and the Italian weather service say it will be clear until Friday.

    2013 Giro d'Italia Stage 10 : Cordenons - Altopiano Del Montasio 167 km

I watched Cassani's preview too, and it was obvious from that preview that Sky must attack Astana on the lower slopes, to strip Nibali of his gregari. There will only be 6-8 men left on the front by the 20% ramps at the top, and I'd be surprised if many of them were GC men.

    2013 Giro d'Italia Stage 10 : Cordenons - Altopiano Del Montasio 167 km

It is only 20% in the upper reaches. Sky will have shelled out the tiny scrawny men well before they get to the 20% section.

    2013 Giro D'Italia Field Discussion

Gesink?!? LOL ... a bottler, who's golden future is all behind him. Henao? ... a youngster with a potentially golden future ahead of him, but no chance this year. Hesjedal? ... I've always had a soft spot for him, but he won last year against the weakest Giro field in a generation. He may...

Team Sky Squads for the Grand Tours

Err? Anyone who was paying attention for the last 2 years? Hell, even observant "July fans" should have noticed that Porte was a potential GT leader.

    Teams & Riders Geraint Thomas

Who really knows where GT is going to go on the road? Despite his age and experience this is going to be his very first season going full-out on the roads at the top level. His under-23 record suggests that he has reasonable prospects in the flatter classics. Whether he yet has the...

2014 TdF Grand Depart awarded to Yorkshire

As a native speaker for long enough to have accumulated white hair, I'm just as baffled by what "waterdown trashyards" might be. American or Euro-glish?

    Phil Liggett: Senile or Liar

You're obviously forgetting Hugh Porter :) Even Phil could spot the difference between the Russian and Italian team colours at the Olympic road race. I vote senile and deluded by partisanship/friendship.

A very sad day - Nicole Cooke retires

A personal opinion, as you say, but I'd say almost the exact opposite. I've been watching pro cycling for 30+ years, and I find most current women's races (except those where Marianne Vos is in top form) to be far more dynamic and open than typical World Tour races today. Smaller...

Nicole Cooke attacks drug cheats in the womens peloton

Nicole is ready to name names The doubters should take a listen the following Radio 5 Live interview with Nicole (from 1 min 56 seconds into the programme). http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01pw3p6 She clearly states that she will name names to a properly constituted independent enquiry.

Nicole Cooke attacks drug cheats in the womens peloton

Go Nicole! Go! I can't wait to see what Nicole has in store for the UCI, British Cycling, and all those dodgy team managers, now that she's free from their blackmail. Not only has she got bigger balls than any male rider I've seen, but she's also got a better brain than anyone I've come...

A very sad day - Nicole Cooke retires

In her pomp, Nicole was the most combative and canny racer I've seen since Merckx. She may not have been the freak of nature that is Marianne Vos, but she so often pulled off astonishing solo wins, against riders doped up to the eyeballs and with massive team support. When she really went...

A very sad day - Nicole Cooke retires

"I am very happy with my career. I have many, many happy memories over what has been my life's work since I was 12," said Cooke. "I have won every race and more that I dreamed I could win." "My time in the sport has finished," said Cooke. "I hope I will look on in 10 years' time and see a...
