Exactly. Valverde played that horribly. At the end he only had one job, follow Costa no matter what. Nibali was obviously knackered after all that chasing and woudlnt be a factor. If I was Purito I would be seriously ****ed at Valverde.

JTL had also been kicking *** in the peloton a long time before attending Sky's Tenerife camp. JTL was arguably more impressive at Haut Var and Tour Med than anything he did after being contacted by Sky. JTL's performance leap is as ridiculous as anything we've seen in recent years however...

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that. As has been pointed out Sky didn't have a Cancellara type rider in the team that was worth focusing all their efforts on. Instead that had a lot of outside favourites. Only way to win in that situation is to attack early and try and win from a break ala...
