Teams & Riders Chris Froome Discussion Thread.

Re: I've been thinking of this as well. A 4th Tour puts Froome decidedly on the list as one of the great GT riders of all time. Not at the top of the list, but he is there. Comparing him to Contador is interesting... In this decade (2010s) Froome has the best palmares of any other stage...

    2016 Vuelta a España, stage 14: Urdax > Col d'Aubisque 196km

Re: Re: Generally, the conclusion I have drawn about Froome from his general body of work,is that he is at his best relative to others on summit finishes that are ____/. Surely, you would not disagree with that? The weaknesses Froome has shown, especially relative to Quintana, are on...

    2016 Vuelta a España, stage 14: Urdax > Col d'Aubisque 196km

Re: Re: I think today was more of Quintana's day to drop Froome, rather than the other way 'round. If, Quintana's (supposed) greatest advantage against Froome is multiple-climb, high mountain stages, then this is the best stage for that in the Vuelta. Therefore, the burden is on Quintana...

    2016 Vuelta a España, stage 14: Urdax > Col d'Aubisque 196km

Contador really reminds me of Armstrong post-comeback.

Re: Indeed. No bidon throwing, no complaint of allergies or of a high HR. Instead, gives credit to the riders better than him. What a novel idea. Even though Froome lost time today, I'd say he is sitting in a good position. In the Tour, it is usually pretty easy to tell from the first...

    2016 TdF, Stage 7: L'Isle-Jourdain → Lac de Payolle (163km)

The most interesting thing to watch will not be who wins the GC sprint in the last 200, but rather, which contender will be found out and dropped? Seeing who falters on the first mountain stage is one of the Tour's most time honored traditions.

    Giro d'Italia 2016 St 20 Guillestre–S.Anna di Vinadio 134 km

Valverde only 11 or 12 seconds down on Nibali. I bet he got some of that back on the decent.

    Giro d'Italia 2016 St 20 Guillestre–S.Anna di Vinadio 134 km

Looks like Nibali is feeling the effort... You can now see Valverde behind him.

    2016 Giro d'Italia - Stage 13, Palmanova - Cividale 170 km

And another "crucial" stage complete, leaving us again with many unanswered questions.

    2016 Giro d'Italia - Stage 13, Palmanova - Cividale 170 km

Re: 2016 Giro d'Italia - Stage 13, Palmanova - Cividale 170 Indeed. The loss of Landa being felt in a big way today.

Teams & Riders He's coming home!!!! Alejandro Valverde comeback thread.

Re: Valv looked better at FW than Nibali at Trentino (or Landa too, for that matter). If there has ever been a Giro route suited to Valverde, this edition looks to be it.

    2016 Giro Field Discussion

Re: If Valverde brings his A game, the race is that much better for it. Landa, Zakarin, and Dumoulin all lack the GT consistency to be seen as guaranteed contenders, but Valv, if he can find his Tour '15 form (or close to it) will seriously challenge Nibali.
