    Purito - Joaquim Rodriguez thread

Pretty much what trevim said. Costa used Nibali to get into a position to win, which was pretty smart as he lacked support throughout the race and Spain had the numbers at the end. Of course there's no fault in Rodriguez's tactics. He did everything he could have done. Much like in LBL this...

    Purito - Joaquim Rodriguez thread

Robbed? No. Purito rode a damned fine, agressive race. He did everything I like to see in any one-day race, let alone the World Championship. However Costa rode a better race, tactically, and was fresher for the final few hundred meters.

Rodriguez's time trial of his career!

The more I look at things (I hadn't really seen the TT course when I brought this thread out of hibernation - just saw results that didn't fit my expectations at all) and reading about how various guys rode, the less it looks like an obvious PED performance. I knew it was a course favorable to...

Rodriguez's time trial of his career!

Well, stage 17 of the Tour is a new entry for this thread. I'm a Purito fan, and I know this course really suited him...but "unbelievable" really comes to mind here. Third place, ten seconds behind Froome?

    Purito - Joaquim Rodriguez thread

Purito is still thinking podium: http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/rodriguez-happier-with-form-but-still-wants-tour-de-france-podium-spot He was surprisingly awful in the Pyrenees, but looked much better on the last two stages. With some luck, he just might make the podium. It's a big longshot...

On which stage will Contador place his do-or-die attack?

I was going to attempt to make a funny post about Oleg Tinkov buying a weather machine to help Contador win Vino-style, but that simply can't compete with an image of Muppets as the LotR fellowship. Seriously, though, I wouldn't be surprised to see him go for broke tomorrow. It would be...

    LeMond I

Here's a source for that, if anyone is interested: http://velonews.competitor.com/2013/07/news/lemond-calls-for-froome-others-to-release-power-data_295268 There's some good stuff in there, but too many ellipses in the quotes. Did he just sort of trail off when speaking, are they trying to...

    What's Wrong with Van Garderen?

I agree, especially with the bolded bit... Last year had a parcourse and field that was very favorable to Van Garderen (and, even more so for Wiggins). The long chronos, dearth of truly decisive MTFs, and nearly all attacking climbers either DNS, crashed out in the first week, or lost too...

Teams & Riders Froome Talk Only

Brailsford did not say he had talked with WADA. He stated a possibly way to work with WADA to prove Sky's cleanliness: And it's a pretty decent plan, really, especially if every team turned over all of their data for WADA analysis.

Petition to ASO to allow women's teams to race the Tour

Cycling in general needs to focus on more one-day racing. And in some areas of the world (the US, if I may be greedy) it needs better tv coverage - especially for the one-day races. I'd love to see women's cycling get better coverage, and am interested to see if anything comes of the various...

    2013 Tour de France, Stage 13: Tours - Saint-Amand-Montrond (173 km)

Prudhomme has been watching the Giro, I suspect.

Teams & Riders Alberto Contador Discussion Thread

I don't know…Contador won't have to worry about Noval stealing his breakfast for the rest of the tour ;)

    Does ASO Ban Froome?

That's a pretty important question, and not only in regards to Contador. Everyone saw the Froome/Porte dominance on Saturday (to me they looked like Ricco and Peipoli in 2008), and their conclusions may very well be, "Ah, well, hotsauce is back on the menu!" If so, that stage may have undone all...

    Does ASO Ban Froome?

Sky should be held accountable for hiring an obvious doping doctor when they have a zero-tolerance policy regarding the past. Hiring Leinders was questionable, at best.

Greates riders by injured riders thread

Broken jaw and liquid diet for the last 4-5 days and he still finished second. That was pretty effin' impressive!
