2013 World Championships, Men ITT 57.9 Km

I think Durbridge has had a long season and Dennis may be fresher and on better form at the moment and Meyer has not done much of note lately.

    Junior gear restrictions

When my best mate and I were racing as juniors I used restricted gears and he didn't, as a result he spent a year off the bike with damaged growth plates in his knees. It's the same as kids not doing massive weights at the gym until they are fully developed and I have another mate who was racing...

    Ban race radios - PLEASE

Even if the news had come over a single channel from race officials there still would have been riders scrambling to find team mates and get in to position earlier than expected so there is a high possibility the crash(es) still would have happened.

In defense of the Old School

But there are only team radios in the world tour, in the lower tier races there is still need for race craft as there are no team radios, and you don't get a world tour contract without having race craft.

    2013 Tour de France, stage 16: Vaison-la-Romaine - Gap 168Km

Does a thumbs up mean something different in spanish? Didn't look unhappy to me

In that case I agree, the radios were a major factor in the confusion and subsequent crash. From a few pro's i've spoken to that is the case, the riders are generally the ones that make the call out on the road. The DS just sets out the strategy at the start of the race, the riders are more...

In defense of the Old School

There would have been a crash with or without the bus incident. I was glad they didn't stop the race, it would have been very disappointing. Of course safety has to be the number one concern, which is why i'm a big believer of radios.

I dunno, they worked out pretty well on stage 1. Imagine if they couldn't get the bus unstuck.

    2013 Tour de France, Stage 13: Tours - Saint-Amand-Montrond (173 km)

Contador looks good, hopefully he's riding into top form. Should be an interesting sprint between Sagan and Cav. Froome is almost isolated again, should be an interesting final week

This is a great stage, I love seeing the GC guys take opportunities like this

    Phil and Paul

My favourite was when Phil announced that Kwaitkowski was going to win a stage and that because he had been riding at the front of the pelo for most of stage 10 he might upset the sprinters. He has no idea anymore

Tour de France stage 10: Tuesday, St-Gildas-des-Bois - Saint Malo

Congrats to Kittel, was a great sprint. I never really considered him to be on par with Cav and Griepel but looks like there's another super fast guy which is great. Hope Tom Veelers is ok though, I know what it's like to hit the deck at that speed, not fun.

Tour de France stage 10: Tuesday, St-Gildas-des-Bois - Saint Malo

They can tell them that without a radio, it wouldn't make a difference. Plus they have the chalk board keeping them informed

    God damn robots

On the point of radios, say they couldn't get the team bus out from under the finish on stage 1, how would they have communicated the new finish with the riders? As a safety issue that's a pretty important one, I know this has been hashed over and over i'm just interested in people's...
