We hope all of you have a great holiday season and wonderful Christmas. Thanks so much for being part of the Cycling News community in 2025 and beyond!
Apparently Sivert Bakken passed away. while in Trentino with team mates.
Honestly hope this is some kind of a horrible joke, but I read it even in NRK.
Edit: Now it's on more and more sources.
Absolutely horrible news, shocking.
Great win for Kirkeeide. She was leading all the way in the last lap.
But when I saw the results, there are 13 women in 23 seconds. It must be one of the closest mass starts ever?
Passler without the penalty in the last shooting could've won, but she only finished 11th
In 2013 and 2015 Froome build his advantage in TT's and easy mountain stages. Fairly sure Roglic could hold him pretty close, or even beat him in some of those stages.
How would he perform in the hard mountain stages in the third week, when Froome was dropped, is another question, but Froome...
I'm not sold on Froome beating Roglic easily, especially if Roglic had HIS Visma team, not the Lotto team at the time.
Froome had his weaknesses in week 3, I think Roglic (barring crashes of course) could have won 2 Tours in Froome's era.
Both of them need to improve A LOT to challenge him.
Not impossible, but I don't find it likely that both, or even any of them will challenge him. Close the gap a bit, or even cut it in half (5 minutes)? Perhaps.
Realistically challenge him? The gap is way too big.
Is it really inviting early attacks?
The final climb is very hard and the descent from Hazallanas is rather easy, not too great for early attacks.
Obviously great for the Vuelta and you're desperate in stage 20, you have the terrain, but I think it's hard for a long range attack to stick.
