Cool - a Giro thread.
I'll be at Stage 8 in Monte Terminillo.
Is anyone else going to be there?
I'll be in Italy for the 1st 2 weeks if the Giro but can only catch the 1 stage -I'll be in the Sorrento area and the Giro does not come close to us this year.
Can't wait to see a Mt...
A month or 2 after the Tour in the VeloNews print edition Andrew Hood did a story on Contador. He wrote abt AC's team among other things. Mentioned Fran, the mechanic and then said AC's PR guy was a Spanish sportswriter. Anyone know who this sportswriter is? Or what paper he wrote for?
As part of the separation agreemenet b/w Bruyneel and the Kaz. Fed, the KCF kept some of the team infrasrtructutre.
I believe it was Rini Wagtmans was who signed the releases for Zubeldia, Kloden, Popovich and Rast.
Just a partial quote on your story b/c it made me wonder - wasn't Navarro gunning to go to Sky a while back? Or was that just a if he could get out of his contract thing?

AC's PR team just sent out press relase - he has reached some sort of preliminary agreement to stay with Astana for 2010. Sorry - no time to translate story - I'm sure it will be...
So now everyone on the '09 TdF team except AC has left or tried to leave AST for RS:
21 CONTADOR VELASCO Alberto ESP
22 ARMSTRONG Lance USA
23 KLÖDEN Andreas GER
24 LEIPHEIMER Levi USA
25 MURAVYEV Dmitriy KAZ
26 PAULINHO Sergio Miguel Moreira POR
27 POPOVYCH...
This could be interesting. What if they have a situation where a rider tests positive and then appeals the descision to suspend him. This could drag on for a year or 2. I hope the clause in Contador's proposed new contract clarifies this somehow.
Was he the person who signed the releases for Kloden, Zubeldia, etc? Because the Kaz Fed said who ever signed the releases did not have authority to do so - or somethng like that. So if he is back now...
This is all too confusing.
