If you hear his coverage of the Tour more than twice, then you know exactly what story or anecdote he will tell 5 minutes before he starts it.

He doesn't know the names of most riders (unless they're from English-speaking countries), and he's obsessed with Armstrong, even when he's not even in the race. He is in complete doping denial, describing any riders caught as 'one of the few bad apples'.

He's crap. Time to retire.

Phil and Paul make a great team. Paul always talking over the top of Phil, contradicting each other. It's great, it would be a pretty boring race without them. As for getting riders names wrong, you try remembering 180 riders. Most people would be lucky to recognise their own mother if she was on a bike with helmet sunnies etc travelling at you at 50kph. Mind you I think I'd recognise my mum at that speed, if she had her teeth in.

Everyone I know records the morning live feed so they can listen to Phil and Paul through the whole race and avoid the crap during the prime time broadcast. Verbal mistakes are better than the idiots OLN (Versus) has tried to use over the years to fill the empty spaces such as Al Trautwig.

No Phil is like a silly grandfather who's allways there on the couch for a laughable comment or story, but not a good cycling commentator.

Davide Cassani, by contrast, is a great cycling commentator, even though he has always rubbed me the wrong way.

I think in general europeans are less apt to connect physical descriptions of humans with sex. The same goes with nudity. Nudity doesn't mean sexual.

I'm so tired of the Versus Phil-Paul show. Mistakes, bad strategy calls, misidentify riders etc. Combine that with Versus 25 min of racing to 35 minutes of adverts is unacceptable. Versus knows that they have a captive audience, so they milk it all they can. Yes, I know there is Tivo, that's no excuse, if you've ever seen a France 2 broadcast, you'd understand what a ripoff the Versus show is.

im just glad we have eurosport.. i cant tolerate either of them..

at least on eurosport yesterday we only had to cope with the concept that Jens Voigt was a stoned alien who had landed on earth and thought everything was beautiful.. (something to that effect)
