2011/12 Australian Summer of Cycling: Launceston Crits → Australian Nationals

Launceston Pro Ex - 26th Nov 2011. Includes Matt Goss & Richie Porte.

NSW Criterium GP Series - 26th & 27th Nov 2011. Both races will be televised on CH9. You often get a great field in this series although it has been shortened due to lack of Govt funding.

Jayco Bay Series Criteriums - Jan 1st - Jan 4th. Always a great criterium series to watch.

Australian National Road Cycling Championships - 5th to 10th January 2012. Both Men and Women's Road races will be shown live on SBS and Cycling Central Site.

Australian national Road race course - google maps

Australian National TT Course - google maps

I am pretty sure that the Road Race course is staying the same but not sure about the TT course.

I will update this page gradually as some of the links aren't to the official pages.

This years (2012) TT course is the same as last years.

A good course, flat with a few little rises in the second half and one short sharp hill about 6k's from the finish.
It's pretty open so if it's windy it makes it that much harder work.

I remember when Matt White won the Cronulla Crit in '07 and it was like a post Tour crit where White attacked and everybody just sat up.

Every rider on the start knew who was going to win that race.

You would think with limited oppertunities promotors would run these on different weekends

Nah, just the one full of nicer looking people because of getting to bed two hours earlier during the European season :D

Snap! :D

In the better half it's actually live on Saturday, but they've reverted back to the typical 3 hour delay on Sunday. Weirdos.

Yeah \o/ ...and sigh. :(

Can't wait to head to Cronulla on Sunday and watch it, few mates racing also.

Last year the pro's had their bikes for the upcoming season, Jeremy Hunt on his Sky Pinarello and Bobridge etc. on their new Cervelo's. So should be a few Scott Foils out and about.

I'll be at both races Wollongong & Cronulla.
(racing in the support masters series)

Weather could be a bit dodgy, it's been raining 5 days straight here in Sydney. Wollongong further south so hopefully it will clear down there and at least be a dry race.

Should be some good racing.

Make sure that both you and Woodie place so maybe they will show you on the TV coverage. If not at least make your self noticeable in the crowd.:p

I'll give it a go :p

Easy to spot in MWCC kit
This is me >

I don't think they'll show any of the support races on TV though.
At best a 10sec highlight of the finish.
Live coverage of the elite womens and mens is excellent, 2hrs all up.

Weathers looking like it maybe a bit better.
