2011 Classics... Pick one rider!

Here are the 'classics' for 2011

Milan – San Remo (Italy)
Ronde van Vlaanderen (Belgium)
Gent–Wevelgem (Belgium)
Paris–Roubaix (France)
Amstel Gold Race (Netherlands)
Flèche Wallonne (Belgium)
Liège–Bastogne–Liège (Belgium)
Gent-Wevelgem (Belgium)
Clásica de San Sebastián (San Sebastian Classic) (Spain)
Paris–Brussels (France/ Belgium)
Paris–Tours (France)
Giro di Lombardia (Italy)

If you had to pick the winner of each race in 2011 who would you pick?!

Remember to think about the form of each rider in 2010, but also in the few years before that... some riders had a bad 2010 for what ever reason.

Also, think about the new teams that some riders might be riding for in 2011, will this make much of a difference to their chances?

Which young riders might be stepping up to the mark in 2011, or which domestiques may be taking over the lead role in next years races!

Note: you don't need to give a rider for every race, but feel free to pick riders for as many of these races as you like.

I look forward to hearing your choices

Quite funny how no one tips Boonen for the Ronde.

He was the best in 2005/2006. Crashed in 2007. Was probably the best in 2008 and 2009 but forced in the defensive because of he who shall not be named.

2010 was the only real year he wasn't the strongest.

Breschel has got to be the most overrated cyclist here.

Anyway

Milan-San Remo: Cavendish
Ronde van Vlaanderen: Tom Boonen
G-W: Who cares
Paris-Roubaix: Thor Hushovd
LBL: Phil Gilbert
Amstel: Phillipe Gilbert
Fleche Wallone: Purito
Giro di Lombardia: Philippe Gilbert
Paris-Tours: Depends, but Cavendish should give this a shot.
Clasica: Vino

Have you ever managed to not mention Boonen in any of your posts?

Very brave going with Devolder for Flanders! Can he do it without that Belgian anchor holding everyone else back? Would be a great race!

And an LBL-bound Spartacus for Roubaix? Again, it would be an amazing win!

I like Sanchex for Sebastian, and Di Luca at Lombardia would be great. (Or Cunego, I'll take either.)

My picks for my favorite races:

MSR: Hushovd
Flanders: Boonen
Paris–Roubaix: Boonen
Amstel: Gilbert
LBL: Ricco (!)
Lombardy: Cunego

Milan – San Remo (Italy) - Oscar Freire
Ronde van Vlaanderen (Belgium) - Fabian Cancellara
Gent–Wevelgem (Belgium) - William Clarke
Paris–Roubaix (France) - Fabian Cancellara
Amstel Gold Race (Netherlands) - Philippe Gilbert
Flèche Wallonne (Belgium) - Joaquim Rodriguez
Liège–Bastogne–Liège (Belgium) - Alexandre Vinokourov
Clásica de San Sebastián (San Sebastian Classic) (Spain) - Luis Leon Sanchez
Paris–Brussels (France/ Belgium) - Matthew Goss
Paris–Tours (France) - Philippe Gilbert
Giro di Lombardia (Italy) - Philippe Gilbert

I might also throw in there that William Clarke will be a future Roubaix and Flanders winner. I would give him a couple years for that. Perhaps 2013 and beyond depending on which team he's on.
