2011 Critérium du Dauphiné, Stage 6: Les Gets - Le Collet d’Allevard, 192.5 km

Stage 5 to Les Gets was just a little warmup for 2 tough final days of the Dauphine.
With 6 categorized climbs, this stage will definitely mix up the GC, and finally confirm who is/is not going for the win in this Dauphine.
At this point we believe Wiggins A)has a shot to win and B)is going to go for it.
Will Cadel Evans make a run for it knowing his ultimate prize still awaits?
Or will Radioshack's young Slovenian have enough to get his jersey back?

Top 15 GC:

1 Bradley Wiggins (GBr) Sky Procycling 18:02:30
2 Cadel Evans (Aus) BMC Racing Team 0:01:11
3 Janez Brajkovic (Slo) Team RadioShack 0:01:21
4 Alexandre Vinokourov (Kaz) Pro Team Astana 0:01:56
5 Rui Alberto Faria Costa (Por) Movistar Team 0:02:22
6 Jurgen Van Den Broeck (Bel) Omega Pharma-Lotto 0:02:28
7 Christophe Riblon (Fra) AG2R La Mondiale 0:02:45
8 Ben Hermans (Bel) Team RadioShack 0:02:46
9 Jerome Coppel (Fra) Saur - Sojasun 0:02:52
10 Kanstantsin Sivtsov (Blr) HTC-Highroad
11 Christophe Kern (Fra) Team Europcar 0:03:05
12 Jean-Christophe Peraud (Fra) AG2R La Mondiale 0:03:18
13 Thomas Voeckler (Fra) Team Europcar 0:03:23
14 David Moncoutie (Fra) Cofidis, Le Credit En Ligne 0:03:54
15 Joaquin Rodriguez Oliver (Spa) Katusha Team 0:03:55

(No, this was not a Hitch preview, I'm sorry, but it's the best I could do!)

Van Den Broeck FTW, or is that just wishful thinking?! Wiggins to lose time, but how much?

I think he will lose some time on VDB, Rodriguez and possibly Vino, Evans is the biggest threat, buthe didn't look that strong to me today, I think Wiggins will pretty much secure his jersey here.

who really cares?

Even if Gesink wins tomorrow the others can say he was too far back in the gc so they didn't care. And we still don't know if it was worth something
And if Gesink sucks they'll say it was planned and the altitude training in st moritz will be used to fix him up for the tour..

so what we got to focus on, is wether Wiggins will crack tomorrow or not. I expect J-Rod to attack like mad and Vandenbroeck to react to 99% of the attacks

I also find it hard to believe that Wiggins will crack hard enough for him to lose his jersey. The only threat really comes from Evans (no faith in Brajkovich here). I can't see Wiggins lose 2 minutes on the other contenders, also because I don't believe anyone will be strong enough to get a substantial gap on the rest.

I see Rui Costa ruling the stage, closely followed by Barredo, who crosses line by feet and without frontwheel.
Of course he gave it to Costa short before finish.

Brajkovic wants to ride high up in GC for the Tour, I really don't see him doing anything special the the next three days. Wiggins seems to be on very good form, and as long as he can limit his losses he might just win this race.

hehe :p nice one :p

Don't know if a break will take this... it'll depend on how the big guns go up the final climb.

also I'd like to see what Gesinks level actually is..
VDB2 FTW :p

Wiggins seems in good enough form that beating him will take a big effort tomorrow. Who wants to risk their tour form enough to win it ?

Brajkovic already won, I don't see what he gains by going all out for the win unless Wiggins cracks easily/early

Wow, this is one awesome stage.

Thanks for the compliment jobiwan.

This is probably the stage Szmyd would normally go for but I see he is not in this race.

Someone like Gesink whose well down to take his place. Im hoping maybe Dan Martin if hes here or Quim Rod.

Ruben. What I understand from this post is that no one cares about this stage because Gesink can no longer win overall.

There are other riders in this race you know. People care because you have a dozen or so top climbers on an absolutely amazing course.

A gc battle for a major PT race it at stake.

Just saying

It seems your understanding has gone than. I was merely talking about who really cares now what Gesink does in this race. As he is no factor anymore

How can you possibly miss that anyway?

Just saying.

Don't underestimate the climb or stage up La Tousuirre. That is a tough one as well.

When you say 'they'll' or 'the others' you should also be reffering to yourself.:p

Well then say "who really cares about Gesink" then.

If your first response to a stage thread is to say "who really cares" is it really such a long shot to think you were talking about the thread topic - the stage?

Besides I do expect him to be a factor tomorow.

A stage win here would redner poor gc performance meaningless. I feel he has been saving himself for this.

Even put him as my prediction in the prediction game (if you have any info to suggest that this is highly unlikely it would be welcome before the time for predictions closes tomorow morning:p)
