Rediculous - Why has Alberto Contador the winner of this year's Giro d'Italia been omitted from the Best Male Road Rider category in this year's poll yet Levi Leiphiemer who won a couple of wee races in America been included....Shocking

Daniel Benson has been informed via twitter but it wouldn't be right for me to repost his answers to me.

I have no problem if Daniel wants to copy the chain of discussion here

Wrong section of the forum. This ridiculous mistake belongs in the "website errors" part of the forum.

Cycling news needs to be made aware of this mistake, however it happened, at once.

That's where I posted, didn't feel like opening a thread about it

Last year the 2010 TOC, the most boring and appauling race in cycling history, came 2nd in the "stage race of the year" catergory, ahead of the greatest grand tour of all time.

Call me elitist, but I look down on the people who produced this poll, and on those who made such absurd voting decisions last time (or maybe Polish voted 2000 times).

Contador was either the 3rd or 2nd best cyclist of the year. How he can be omitted from the top 9 is beyond me.

It would not surprise me in the slightest to see Gilbert come 3rd in this poll btw. Maybe even 4th behind Wiggins.

Oh and look, USA Pro cycling challenge is on the "stage race of the year poll".

Pleeeeeeasse.

Im voting for Tirreno Adriatico for stage race of the year btw.

Oh and look, if you want to vote, you have to vote for crap like "best twitter personality", wtf.

I just vote for the first name on every poll I dont know the answer too, so that cycling news see the pattern that if you force people to answer the question, the first person alphabetically, wins.

And there are no write in candidates.

I wouldnt be surprised if the results were already rigged you know.

Not a free and fair election:p

I just want a new bike used by Tyler will be fine

But I bet the winner goes to the US has the last 2-3 years.

Not worth getting all bent out of shape over - thats what we have this place for :p

1. (4) GILBERT Philippe OLO 05/07/1982 3168
2. (2) CONTADOR VELASCO Alberto SBS 06/12/1982 2373
3. (3) RODRIGUEZ OLIVER Joaquin KAT 12/05/1979 2028

The top 3 of the CQ ranking. It's almost strange if they are not included in the rider of the year list. I understand why Purito isn't in the list since he didn't win a big race. Contador though... he won the Giro for example... a rather big race.

It's ridiculous that he isn't an option in the rider of the year list. It doesn't really matter though since Gilbert deserves to win this anyways.

This is how serious people and websites loose their credibility. They could, for all I care, have put in a foodnote. Telling us that they let him on the list, because he was yet to be found guilty and that he would not have been there if he had.

But this kind of omission makes it look amateurish and demeans the entire poll in a way, that you can disregard it completely as a work of fiction.

Putting the biggest disgrace of all time on the list for stage race of the year, last year, just because it was American, was a far bigger farce, and I dont think they lost any "credibility" from their normal readers.

Its like Liggett. The average viewer thinks he is a cycling expert.

There is NO justification for excluding him since he has been exonerated by his federation. His results from this year will stand regardless of what happens. Cycling News really screwed the pooch here.

I 100% agree with you. Except that I voted for Tour of Suisse as best stage race just before T-A. Honestly Kruiswijks stage win and the GC winner being decided in the last 2km of the TT edged it for me. Despite it being Leecheimer.

I also voted the first on every question I had no freaking clue about.

Ridiculous poll. Maybe we shouldn't even bother with this poll...

Maybe they have a rule that previous winners can't be included thats real strange. I dont buy the conspiracy theory as surely it would be easier to include him and rig the vote for Andy Engels or someone.

Well over half my answers I had no clue who or what I was voting for. I did go for the 140x12 dropout it sounds impressive. probably mtb downhill?
and I voted for a female with a nice Polish looking name in some category.

As an Anglo but following all of the riders its kind of embarrassing and absurd but I might enter because I fancy a Tyler Felt bicycle!

I seem to remember the equivalent comp from last year to win a Dave Millar bike being a bit of a joke but maybe thats a figment of my imagination.
Somebody at CN's head must roll. :p

Yeah you are right. TDS was awesome. Great ending too. I didnt watch all of it, but the last moments and the tt were breathtaking.

Also think with that added to his good performances in Cali Colorado and Utah, Levi might deserve a mention in the rider of the year thread. Maybe ahead of Wiggins or Voeckler or Martin.
