What do you think about this bike http://www.cyclelab.com/products/KTM%20ULTRA%20SPORT%20(2011).aspx, my friend want to buy it for 890 eur, (it was over 1110 eur.
There is specs.

Fork: Rock Shox Recon 100 SLV TK-SA
Crankset: Shimano M552 42-32-24
Wheels: Rigida Taurus 26 32H
Rear mech: Shimano Deore XT
Shifters: Shimano SLX 3/10
Front mech: Shimano SLX
Brakes: Shimano M445 180/180 Hidr.Disc Brake
Frame: Alloy 6061.F:triplebutted
Hubs: Shimano Deore CL
Cassete: Shimano HG81-10 11-34
BB: Shimano BB-Set
Tyres Schwalbe Racing Ralph 2.1 P folding
weight: 12,2 without ped.

I am mostly concern about brakes, but other parts are solid, he needs it for long term solution as cross training in winter, so not so much to abuse.
What do you mean about it?
Thanks!

I've had a quick look at that and I don't think you'd go far wrong with it, cannot see the brakes being a problem - nice thick discs wont warp or get easily out of true. I'd also look at the Boardman mountain bikes if available where you are (they are on sale here in the UK at Halfords). The spec on them is really quite good for the money - tend to have lighter higher spec forks than the equivalent models in other ranges. But that KTM looks pretty good to me; cannot go wrong with (mainly) Shimano gear and it's an eyecatching bike.

you will ultimately replace the calipers and cranks and wheels

wheelset could anchor the queen Mary

it's not a 29er

the steerer tube on the Recon fork is steel heavy. Rebound adj is poor.
It is a bouncy fork.

seems like a good deal. but the named upgrades are expensive.

For my money it is the wheels, crank and brakes that make a hardtail 26.

I recommend you look into a HT 29 based on what I know from your other posts

Depends what you want it for.
