2011 Tour de France Manager Game

Same one as the Giro but it will be modified a bit. It will be harder salary cap wise too.

Register your interest and I'll work out the fine details over the coming weeks.

So it's easier, the maximum amount of entries allowed is 24. I may stretch it if I can get help from someone.

The first 5 from the Giro d'Italia game are automatic entries, but need them to confirm. This is a measure put in place in case they can't commit for a while. So the first 19 commitments I get in this thread will be in.

Rules and how to submit your entry.

You are to submit your entry in the following format. Including their salaries. I want the riders names and in order from most expensive to least expensive. Therefore someone like Contador is listed down the bottom for some and up the top for others - one of the reasons mistakes were made in the Giro game. I want to copy and paste this straight into the spreadsheet.

No numbers before the riders names either.
Only Salary for the list of 20 riders. Your 9 riders I don't want their salaries there.

Remember: Only your team of 9 you choose out of your 20 will score points for where they finish on the classification at the end of the race. The team of 20 scores every stage.

So if you have Cavendish in your team of 20, and you fail to have him in your team of 9, and he wins the points classification, you won't get those points because he wasn't in your team of 9.

THE FOLLOWING is how I want the PM to be sent to me. I want it set out exactly like this. If it isn't set out like this, your entry won't be accepted. I spent hours at the start of the Giro game fixing everyone's entries up and chasing everyone for jokers etc. Follow it exactly like the example below and you will have no issues.

Team of 20

Andy Schleck - $1,200,000
Alberto Contador - $1,200,000
Cadel Evans - $800,000
Ivan Basso - $800,000
Robert Gesink - $800,000
Mark Cavendish - $600,000
Alessandro Petacchi - $600,000
Philippe Gilbert - $600,000
Thomas Voeckler - $400,000
Jurgen Van Den Broeck - $400,000
Chris Horner - $400,000
Levi Leipheimer - $300,000
David Moncoutie - $80,000
Anthony Charteau - $60,000
Pierre Rolland - $60,000
Matthew Goss - $60,000
Andre Greipel - $60,000
Danilo Hondo - $60,000
Alexandre Vinokourov - $60,000
Tony Martin - $60,000

Team of 9

Alberto Contador
Andy Schleck
Cadel Evans
Ivan Basso
Robert Gesink
Mark Cavendish
Thomas Voeckler
Jurgen Van Den Broeck
Pierre Rolland

Team

Joker

Stage 1
Stage 10
Stage 20

Yes there will be 3 joker stages. The catch is the joker stages have to be used once a week. Can't be used twice a week or 3 times in a week. For example.

Sunday - Sunday - One joker
Monday - Sunday - One joker
Monday - Sunday - One joker

That will make the game more interesting and more difficult and will hopefully result in a much closer, enjoyable game.

So that's how I want the entries set out - spaces between the 3 headings.

I don't want the PM set out like that. All I want to do is copy and paste the entry straight into the spreadsheet. I dont' want to have to alter anything like I had to in the Giro Game. Full names also, not just the surname. That first example is how it has to be sent.

Please ensure you have your complete team in there with the jokers when you send. I don't want to have to chase up everyone who forget. I won't be chasing anyone up if they don't have it right. If it's not done properly, I will dismiss it. I know that sounds harsh but it's much easier on me as it's hard to keep track during the 3 weeks already, I don't want to have an extra week on there of more work chasing up people who don't check their entries.

The salary cap for this game will be $7,000,000 - Your team cannot exceed that price.

The team you choose is also part of the salary cap.

That team will score you points if they lead the teams classification at the end of a stage, where they finish in the team time trial and where they finish on the team classification at the end of the Tour.

Cheers guys and have fun.

I feel a little special having a spot reserved for me ;)

I'm definitely in! The Giro manager game was a lot of fun :)

+1, I'll most definitely occupy my reserved spot! :)

I can act all cool and just come in and put my name down a week before the race starts...

I think it will be a lot harder this time, especially with the Week 1 joker where a random might have KoM and who knows who will have Yellow.

I am in.

One thing i´d change: Give less points for leaders after each stage. Once you got lucky with a pick like Garzelli you get 20 free points each stage, while a stage win (25 points) is hard earned every new day.

Otherwise i like the rules... and yeah a tougher Salary-Cap is nice. More work to do ;)

I'd like to join if there's room, please, as I just missed the cut in Foxxy's game. (I'm looking at you, Menchov.:p)

Giro was just training and so on, blablatrara.....

Wonder what is harder - missing the cut or becoming 2nd in 2 other games around here.
Don't know. I did both.

I'm sure Sasquatch will elaborate at some point, but basically a joker card is a card that gives you double points on one stage. With three joker cards this game this means that you will get double points on three separate stages.

So when you send in your team you write which stages you want to use your joker cards on.

For instance, you write:

Joker

Stage 2
Stage 10
Stage 17

And all points you score on these stages are doubled. Pretty simple in reality but of course you have to know what it is :)
