2012 Tirreno -Adriatico, Stage 3:Indicatore (Ar) - Terni: 178 km

Good and last stage for the sprinters today, nice and easy stage with only 178 kms. From tommorrow it becomes difficult and the favorite for this year edition will have to come out and earn some money.

Cav to double up today. Doesn't really seem to be any opposition at the moment.

From the reports look like he was in bad shape after the crash. The fact he even tried to start is impressive already. Respect.

Couldn't watch stage 2 yet. A lot of riders saying the crash was caused by Van Avarmaet and Tiralongo as they were re-absorbed into the peloton from the break (?). Part of racing, but a shame to see something avoidable like that happening. Mathews' Sanremo went up in smokes.

What? You did see Freire getting awfully close yesterday?

I would be amazed if he beats cavendish, I think this stage is cavendishes and skys to lose in my opinion they have it in the bag.. I dont think greipel was stuck behind the crash and I think he is the only one he can rival cavendish in this race..as usual I am making my petacchi is old and finished now hopefully he makes me look foolish again and wins some more big stages this year.

Did Gilbert get hurt in the crash? Would not be good timing for him considering what's to come in the next few weeks.

Nah. He was behind the crash, not in it.

It's quite clear by now that Freire gets faster (relatively, of course) the longer a race is. His stamina is simply exceptional. However, today's stage is only 178 km so I doubt Freire will be up there.

Yes, but how often do we see him getting up there consistently these days?

Michael Matthews will start today. 14 stitches in his arm, 4 in his leg.

Great news!! :)

I think Tyler will win today but requires some kind of lead-out.

Edit:

Matthews won't start after all, got dizzy at warmup.

Damn.

:confused:WHAT? just because the race is shorter may mean a slight disadvantage to Freire but will it really mean he wont challenge?? Its not like an extra 50km of flat are that decisive and it wasnt like yesterday was ridden at breathneck speed. Seeing yesterdays stage all it means is that of course he will be up there yet his 2nd may be a 3rd this time.
