2012 Tour Down Under Stage 5: McLaren Vale - Old Willunga Hill 151.5km

Sorry to steal your thunder, auscycle, but I was wondering about the finish at Old Willungs Hill. How long of a climb is it? What are the gradients? What's a comparable finish in the Classics or in recent Grand Tours? Will any sprinters like Freire be able to make it up there with the climbers? Can Boassen Hagen take it on, or is too long or too steep? If anyone knows, feel free to share! Thanks! :)

Edit: Ok - If I already posted the the thread, how can I add the poll? Anybody know what I need to do?

It's not too hard, he has done well on harder climbs before such as stage 1 in Dauphine last year (6th, finished in s.t as Evans, Vino etc) or Green Mountain (2nd behind Gesink) in Tour of Oman, both of which are quite a bit harder than Willunga hill. However, his form is not good enough to keep up with Gerrans particularly, so I think he'll be somewhere between 3rd and 10th.

Bala Verde vs Simon Gerrans vs Boasson Hagen vs Greg van Avermaet

Not the greatest puncheur field, but will do.

That ain't happening. His attack on stage 2 was almost in slow motion. I think it will be Simon Gerrans, although I kind of want to see Valverde take it.

i didn't eve knew he attacked on stage 2. any footage of that?

It was to get KOM points, and he did beat the other people going for it. I can't seem to find it online. I just saw it from the 30 mins of tv coverage we get from NBC Sports.

He's my only rider with a chance of taking points in the Tour down Under in a certain manager game (where we draft riders in november prior to the season).
The only other start I have is Dowsett and he has 0 chance.

So ... MACHADO GO

lol i see, he will prolly top 10 like he does in every week long stage race he does :p
