Sorry for the late start with these, but my day job gets really busy up until roughly late March, and then I was working on an additional project for the bosses, that just wrapped up.
For those who don't remember from last year, this ranking is based on the team rankings for each individual race. For each stage and one-day race, rankings are based on the combined finishes of the top three finishes for each team of each stage, for the overall ranking, rankings are based on the combined times of the top three finishes of each team on each stage. Only ProTeams and Professional Continental Teams are ranked. Teams are ranked on the UCI points scale for WorldTour events, for non-WorldTour events, the points scale is as follows:
.HC: 50-30-20-10-4, 3-2-1 for each stage
.1: 40-20-12-6-2, 3-2-1 for each stage
As I catch up with each week, I'll post them. Comments are always welcome, even if the comment is, in so many words "these rankings are horrible"!
Through January 20 (La Tropicale Amissa Bongo):
1. Lotto Belisol, 54
2. MTN-Qhubeka, 26
3. Europcar, 14
4. Cofidis, 9
5. Lampre-Merida, 1
Note: These rankings do a better job of determining who the 18 best teams are than who the single best team is, or, at the very least, which 18 teams would probably have been the best teams to have had in the WorldTour that given season.
