Very similar to 2007 ttt. Island(s), technical, undulating.
Less long and hilly (I have impression) than in 2007, but the idea is the same.
Astana (Popovych, if I recall well) slid in one turn back then, causing the team to lose some time.
A well-coordinated team should take this rather than powerful one.

In fact, this year's route shares many common features with the Giro 2007.

Edit:
It was Popovych who crashed, but riding for Discovery.
I've mixed them because of Savoldelli's transfer and later hijack of Astana by USPS - Disco gang.

There will be small gaps but such a technical course will see at least one team have a disaster and lose well over a minute.

Sky directeur sportif Rod Ellingworth kept things in perspective

"The course isn't as technical as people make out, but until you know things like exactly where the barriers are on the day and you've done the final recon, it won't be exactly possible to know what it’s like," Ellingworth said.

Hint: we are going to take time on all your losers:D

Whats the point of such a short TTT? Would be a lot more interesting if it was 50k.

100% Agree.

I think the last time there was a long TTT, the race ended. It was the Astana 09 of Lance, Contador, Kloden, Levi etc. So organizers avoid long TTT for fear at a dead race

Hoping that BMC can take it and win by enough to give Phinney another pink jersey. GE and RLT on paper look like they could do well.
As long as Kessiakoff isn't hurt too bad, Astana to be just a few seconds back or ahead of Sky.

BMC to win this with Orica GreenEdge a close second.
Cadel Evans to be showing of a pink frame at the start of Stage 3.

Does anyone know what the rules are regarding who gets the maglia rosa after the TTT asuming none of the teams with riders that took bonus seconds yesterday will be in contention?

If for example Sky wins, is it then the best placed rider on stage 1 that will take the jersey? If that's the case, then great move by Puccio to be the best placed Sky rider...
