2013 Tour of Utah - climbing sufferfest

Climbing EVERY DAY. Having done many of these roads, I can say that this is going to be as brutal as it will be beautiful.

They could improve the parcourse riding stage 1 from finish to start :D

Yep. This used to be a race course we had for a few years called "Tour de Gap". One stage started exactly like this, descended into the valley, went around the valley, then climbed back up a different way. Superb climb, with some incredible views.

The climb coming in from the main road reaches 22%, but they won't be doing that way.

Looks like a nice hilly route, could use maybe one more MTF, but overall not too bad. Should produce some good racing.

Utah is, for all the posturing of California and Colorado, the best American stage race.

Now for them to start posting the stats in kilometres and metres so that I can actually make some sense of the difficulty of these profiles...

Half the trouble is not knowing whether or not they used miles. feet or metres are obvious.

No invite for Paco Mancebo and his 5H energy team. Bummer. Those guys always get screwed. But again, its either them or Jelly Belly and since they got the new national champ on team that may be the reason they got picked over 5H/Kenda.

Stage 2 must be the most beautiful stage ever ridden in a professional bike race:
Red Canyon, Bryce Canyon National Park, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Aquarius Plateau, Boulder Mountain all part of the route.

I predict the most amazing race pictures of the year.

It's km and metres really. They are climbing 10km high mountains!

And I thought the highest mountains were in the himalaya.... :)
