Gear Dispute Costs Nick Symmonds a Trip to Track Worlds
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/11/s...om-world-championships-team-he-says.html?_r=0

Never been Symmonds' biggest fan, and definitely not a Nike fan. But, what a kerfuffle because of a sponsorship dispute.

I can see where Symmonds is coming from, but all this business talk is making my head hurt. (Add in some lawyer talk [if Symmonds chooses to involve lawyers] and it will positively explode.) Don't think at 31 Symmonds has much to lose, so might as well make a stand, I suppose.

Nick has run at least two Beer Miles that I'm aware of,
so this dispute will free him up for the upcoming First
Annual Beer Mile World Classic on 22-AUG-2015 in
beautiful San Francisco, USA.

The competition is really heating up with a Canadian
runner eclipsing the recent WR set by an Aussie:

I'm not entirely sure whether to laugh or vomit first while watching that video.

I did actually laugh at that comment about Lance, however:

"That was not what I expected," said the Texan, who obviously wasn't accustomed to the effects of taking performance damaging substances.

I'm surprised major beer manufacturers (in terms of sponsorship) haven't gotten ahold of this one yet. (Or have they?)

On one hand I think it's funny, but on the other I'm thinking - please don't try this at home. These are highly trained athletes (take that statement as you will) who are putting on this show.

The Canadians are credited with inventing the Beer Mile
as well as writing the universally accepted Rules and they
continue to dominate the event at the highest levels.

In December 2014 Corey Gallagher from Manitoba, Canada
won the FloTrack Beer Mile World Championships in Austin,
Texas and now current World Recor holder Lewis Kent, from
Ontario, Canada has won the World Beer Mile Classic in San
Francisco, California.

Alarm bells should be going off in the UK, Germany, Belgium
and most other countries as they risk falling dangerously far
behind the Canadians who seem to have a well developed
national program in place and a very deep pool of talent to
choose from.

i dont know what to think...minutes ago, 2 pale-skinned athletes dominated their traditionally all-dark-skinned finals. if the dutch schippers i more or less believed could happen, the shubenkov's 110 w/ hurdles i thought could be a 3d at best.
