Max Rockatansky said:The Portuguese National Championship will be held in Braga this year. The road race looks very difficult with the climb of Santuário do Sameiro, that the riders will have to race eleven times and the race actually starting and ending on the hill. This adds up to 4.200 meters of climbing. If Rui Costa comes in form, he can win this with Oliveira and his brother as support.
Italians will do the Milano-Torino in June with two times Superga in the finale. So will the race be cancelled later this year?

Libertine Seguros said:Portuguese nationals will be a hellacious race, with that climb. Manuel Cardoso winning this ain't on the cards.
Costa is obviously a major shout for it along with Machado, I'm wondering about Brandão, he's good on short to mid climbs, but how's his recovery doing it 11 times? Ricardo Vilela is a possibility but has no support, also Edgar Pinto with the same issue. Of course I'd love for Hernâni Brôco or Amaro Antunes, and really anybody but Rui Sousa.
BigMac said:Brandão is definitely a solid bet. This shouldn't take much more from him than last year's Torre stage (where when you come to think about it, he sort of pulled a Geraint Thomas, or the the other way around). But again, the nationals are the nationals, and it's not really comparable. But if anything, one would expect this race to suit him better. Edgar Pinto, I wish he could to wonders here... I like him a lot because he has always been one of the most consistent riders in the Portuguese peloton. Plus he continues doing his thing in Skydive, i'll be rooting for him this year. This can also go the attackers' side, I'm thinking António Carvalho for instance. But I promised myself three years ago I wouldn't do more predictions for the nationals, so...
That said, can't see past Costa if victory is to come from his group.

I wish more countries would do something like this, at least every half a dozen years.

I had profiles for the French ones but not sure where they are now. Can't find them.
