Henao deserves a stage win. Maybe he can conquer Mt. Baldy?

Perhaps, Mt Baldy is quite steep at the end so the smallest, lightest rider has a good chance. Too bad my favorite "dwarfs" Porte & Purito are not doing this race as this stage is perfect for them

Who is there to challenge him? Talansky hasn't showed much and I can't see him winning on Mt. Baldy. He has a strong TT though. Barguil, Busche, Zubeldia, Zoidl, Ten Dam and the mentally old Gesink and Brajkovič are all levels below.

If only Craddock had last year's form by now... but he has been struggling to perform since he's crash and abandon Down Under. I hope he can win atop Mt. Baldy, top 10, and that would offset the unfortunate first half of the season.

Overall it's quite a nice and leveled field, and it will be particularly interesting to see the Sagan / Cav face off. Watch out for Rob Britton after a consistent ride and win in New Mexico. Ruben Guerreiro will be in stage 7's break, that's granted. And Gesink, it's North America so he will do good! Lastly, Carter Jones - nowehere to be seen yet, but he will be in the mix, Im confident.

That said, Barguil is either going to win convincingly or smoke himself out of contention with a series of attacks, only for Kennaugh to pull a Wiggins and reel him back.

This one will keep me awake for sure.

It's not gonna be much of a face off Cav will tear him apart.

This should be our chance to finally see Zubeldia!

You mean to see Zubeldia somehow grind it to the top 10? Yeah, he is good at that and you may see another top 10 from invisible Zubeldia

The utter suspense of whether Haimar Zubeldia will indeed make another top 10 far exceeds any excitement that could ever come from this race. I should apologize, really. The Tour of California is a tremendous opportunity for California yuppies to get up and close with their cycling heroes. It's a fine chance to get your "Shut up, legs" bumper sticker on your Beemer signed by Jens himself. And it was TOTALLY cool to get a glimpse of Lance a few years back. It is unfortunate, though, that the organizers haven't modified the courses to include a few more "crits." Like maybe 7 or 8 criterium stages. You know, not too many, just a happy medium.

Brajkovic is a major candidate. I assume the usual americans will be there to contend?
Certainly nobody else cares about winning this race.

Correct! This is the American version of Tour Down Under :D

The only difference is that this race, unlike TDU is not mandatory

I'm curious to see what Jay McCarthy can do in a better field than the Tour of Turkey.

Probably not much unfortunately as he'll be riding for Sagan, but I think he'll ride well in support.
