If Katusha are permitted to start, can we be confident that they will be allowed to finish the race? Is there any likelihood that the UCI will start the "2 riders caught, whole team out" ban mid-race?
I don't think so. It will probably take a while before they come to any decision regarding Katusha's possible ban. I'm not sure though, just my feeling.

The fact Sky are not at this race makes me think Stannard could finally break his February-only classics peak:

2014
1st Omloop Het Nieuwsblad
4th Overall Tour of Qatar

2015
1st Omloop Het Nieuwsblad
4th Overall Tour of Qatar

Stannard won't even ride Omloop this year

21 riders 1:20 ahead of the bunch: Alexander Kristoff, Sven Erik Bystrøm, Viacheslav Kuznetsov, Michael Mørkøv (Katusha), Mark Cavendish, Edvald Boasson Hagen, Tyler Farrar (Dimension Data), Søren Kragh Andersen, Tom Stamsnijder, Zico Waeytens (Giant-Alpecin), Greg Van Avermaet, Daniel Oss, Manuel Quinziato, Michael Schär (BMC), Sam Bennett, Zak Dempster, Rudiger Selig (Bora-Argon 18), Arnaud Gerard (Fortuneo-Vital Concept), Andrea Guardini (Astana), Sacha Modolo (Lampre-Merida) and Christopher Jones (UnitedHealthCare).

Most of the big names are in this group. However, GC contenders Boom, Westra and Van Emden are not represent. 62 km's remain.

That sucks. It was van Marcke's turn to be beaten in a slow motion "sprint" finish.
