Can anyone beat Remco? So far no one, but he’s now heading into uncharted waters. Meanwhile Mas is in second like last year, while Roglic is holding on to third. Poll is in order of GC.

It wasn't too early to attack; it might soon be too late for the others. If he has a two minute lead before the next rest day they will start riding for the podium spots. The third week isn't tough. The time trial should be in his advantage. The big challenge will be the Sierra Nevada. Evenepoel still has everything to prove on a long climb on high altitude. However with his current shape and the strong team support this is looking good.

So... Is Evenepoel going to catch Mas in the TT or not? Timegap is 2 minutes between start times. Since leaving QuickStep, Mas has been losing around 2 minutes on TTs of similar length to the stagewinner. Sometimes a bit over, sometimes a bit under 2 minutes.

It's the only stage Evenepoel has recon'd and he trains here a lot. I think Mas is going to be 3 minutes down or more in GC after the TT. I think Roglic will do better but still lose over 30 seconds and become Evenepoel's nearest competitor at around 2½ minutes.

First week was way better than I expected , so I'll try not to be a hypocrite shitting on the route and the riders again.
Having said that, it's very hard to see opportunities for Remco to lose this without a big time bonk. Even if Roglic miraculously regains his form and starts taking 20-30 seconds here and there, it'll be very tough to gain enough given how soft the third week is. It's a shame that Ineos and Bora's "multiple" leader approach seems to have flopped completely already because these were the teams I'd have hope to try something from further out.
Good thing is that the three spaniards in the top 5 seem happy to attack and make this race interesting and there's still Yates and MAL lurking in striking distance to unleash a sudden nuclear performance that catapults them onto the podium.
Another good thing is that teams overall don't have strength in depth to turn the MTFs into a chuuchuu train so I'm pretty optimistic that Sierra Nevada and others won't be boring.
