The latest addition to the CQ games library, and the most overdue. Not a direct parallel to the season long men's game, for reasons I gave some time ago, but we can finally may some attention to the Women's peloton for these competitions.
Your challenge is to select 16 women riders, with a maximum total cost (CQ points earned in 2022) of 4000 points. That is your team for the season: no substitutions or alterations after the game has started.
Unfortunately CQ doesn't produce a download for the end of year most years for the women, so I will copy and paste one together and put it up on Google Docs if necessary. Until then, it is the current year scores for any rider whose page you look at, and that seems unlikely to change for mostof them before the end of the year.
The game covers the Women's World Tour events, plus the World championships both road race and timetrial. That is, I believe, 30 events and 55 days of racing.
(Edited: Omloop added having been omitted by my source, Swedish events removed after their cancellation)
I have a suspicion that with the growth in women's equivalent/partner races to monuments and GTs that CQ will revise their scoring to reward those more, but as it stands, the rewards scale is:
If CQ does change the allocation of points, I will follow that lead: equally if they make any controversial decisions, I will follow them unless error of fact is evident. Any disqualifications, or appeals against such, that are recorded at CQ before the end of the game (17 October) will be applied within the game, but if sanctions are applied thereafter, the results of the game will not be revised.
Teams to be submitted, by PM at either CN forum or VeloRooms, to Armchair Cyclist, before the start of the TDU on 15 January (presumably late morning Australian time, so late on Saturday 14th in Europe and early evening in US/Canada). Please give only the 16 names, one per line, with no additional data on those lines, and following the naming format used at CQ (which may include previous names in brackets) if at all possible.
Results should be posted after each event: I will collate stage and GC points on multi-day races. There will be a minor classification ("Green Jersey"), based on a manager's rank in each event.
Hoping that we get a good number of entries, and that if you don't consider yourself well informed about the women's side of the sport beyond the headline makers that this might be the context for learning more about it (that's going to be my take at least).
