2023 Women's WT CQ Game

The latest addition to the CQ games library, and the most overdue. Not a direct parallel to the season long men's game, for reasons I gave some time ago, but we can finally may some attention to the Women's peloton for these competitions.

Your challenge is to select 16 women riders, with a maximum total cost (CQ points earned in 2022) of 4000 points. That is your team for the season: no substitutions or alterations after the game has started.
Unfortunately CQ doesn't produce a download for the end of year most years for the women, so I will copy and paste one together and put it up on Google Docs if necessary. Until then, it is the current year scores for any rider whose page you look at, and that seems unlikely to change for mostof them before the end of the year.

The game covers the Women's World Tour events, plus the World championships both road race and timetrial. That is, I believe, 30 events and 55 days of racing.

I have a suspicion that with the growth in women's equivalent/partner races to monuments and GTs that CQ will revise their scoring to reward those more, but as it stands, the rewards scale is:

2.WWT (GC)

If CQ does change the allocation of points, I will follow that lead: equally if they make any controversial decisions, I will follow them unless error of fact is evident. Any disqualifications, or appeals against such, that are recorded at CQ before the end of the game (17 October) will be applied within the game, but if sanctions are applied thereafter, the results of the game will not be revised.

Teams to be submitted, by PM at either CN forum or VeloRooms, to Armchair Cyclist, before the start of the TDU on 15 January (presumably late morning Australian time, so late on Saturday 14th in Europe and early evening in US/Canada). Please give only the 16 names, one per line, with no additional data on those lines, and following the naming format used at CQ (which may include previous names in brackets) if at all possible.

Results should be posted after each event: I will collate stage and GC points on multi-day races. There will be a minor classification ("Green Jersey"), based on a manager's rank in each event.

Hoping that we get a good number of entries, and that if you don't consider yourself well informed about the women's side of the sport beyond the headline makers that this might be the context for learning more about it (that's going to be my take at least).

Wow. I just saw this. I very slowly followed women a bit in 2022. This would be a good way for me to get to know more of the riders and races. So I'll give it a try. Are we still doing a young riders competition this year also?

Yeah: I'll write an OP sometime between Xmas and New Year, but it will be the same rules (18 riders, fewer than 200 lifetime points each) and closing will be 23:59 on 14th Jan

The heart over headness in this game for me is going to be so hard to overcome.

And it's just the WWT races that count for it? It's so long since I played the CQ game that I thought it just went with your CQ scores, so want to know if I'd be wasting my time picking people out of the NRC and LatAm scenes or if I have the opportunity to go crate-digging for hidden treasure, lol.

WWT plus World Champs, yes.
It would be interesting to do a women's equivalent of the main season CQ game, but CQ only make a downloadable file of the womens' rankings a few times a year, so this is based more on the format and spreadsheet for the Spring Classics game.

But your expert knowledge will surely still bear fruit.

There is now a Selection spreadsheet that can do the Maths for you, check that you have the correct versions of names, and has a list of all the women who scored CQ points in 2022 (thanks to 'J'), plus zero pointers who are listed at CQ riding on a WWT/UCI team in 2023. On Googledocs here.

5 teams in so far, and no rider is going to be on every team: my team has been lodged with Bminchow, who was the first to enter.

And to clear up any confusion from a previous posting, Omloop is indeed included in the scoring races, as is (although I hate the concept) the WC mixed relay TT

Thank you for the clarication. It's obviously impossible to know who actually ends up riding the mixed relay TT, but I might still include a rider or two, who I hope will do well in it.

I have some riders on my longlist where there's still some uncertainty regarding their 2023 contracts, so I probably won't be submitting my team this week.

CQ seems to be having some problems on the women's side of their site with the changeover to a new year. All riders are showing as having scored 0 in 2022 on their page (well, all the ones I have looked at: I can't verify that it is the case for absolutely everyone).

Until that is sorted, look at the 'Current CQ value' below the petrol gauge style display on each rider's page, or in the list of scores. If every rider you think might be a good pick is free, assume that the problem has not yet been resolved.
Seems to be fixed now.

TEAM SENT.

On the CYCLE PARLIAMENT website we also organize a game with the girls. We started in 2021, so this will be its third edition. It is a pity that there are only three days left, as the teams must be sent by 11:59 on January 7th. If anyone wants information, they can find it at
The rules are in the eighth message (#8)

Coming up with a team for this have proved to be an absolutely horrible task for me. I have been very close to simply picking riders with names starting with A (an A team, if you will) or only riders with hyphenated surnames to reduce the options!

I also thought about making a team of redheaded riders, but a certain someone would probably just criticise my selection.
